I didn't see Harry or Hermione much in the next few days leading up to the first tournament, I'm sure they where preparing for the dragons. Ron kept me company though, and we talked about muggle music.
"I don't really listen to music." He said.
"You don't listen to music?"
"No, how would I?" He was referring to magic screwing with technology.
"Well not listening to it at school makes some sense but not even at home?"
"Nope." This was horrific.
"Oh that's just wrong. Do you like any artists atleast?"
"I don't know, I just listen to whatever comes on the radio." He shrugged.
"The wizard radio I'm guessing?"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing is wrong with that, I just think your missing out on the opportunity to develop your own music taste to enjoy."
"I don't even know how I would do that?"
"You can borrow some muggle stuff I have, I'll make a playlist of a range of stuff so I'm not just imposing my own music taste." He was confused but agreed. We talked about a lot of random stuff like that. I missed Harry and Hermione though.
Everytime I saw Draco in class or the great hall I felt my stomach drop, the guilt tearing me apart from the inside. I gulped it down and ignored it.
The morning of the task we were lead out to the forest, where an arena had been built, and I sat with Ron. Everyone was conspiring about what it could be, I suppose if I hadn't known and been so fearful for Harry I would've been excited too.
"Bloody hell, they are going up against dragons!" Rons jaw dropped, terror in his eyes. The champions came out one by one and fought the dragons in their own way, Harry was last. All of them retrieved their golden eggs, with varying amounts of fighting and fire. I waited anxiously for the champion to be announced - Harry had the fastest retrieval of the egg. I cheered loudly as this was announced, and looked to Ron for his reaction. He too cheered to my suprise, jumping up and clapping. He seemed equally relieved as I did.
I went back with Ron to the Gryffindor common room which burst out with celebration the moment Harry arrived. They cheered, congratulated him, even lifting him up on their shoulders. I had never seen him so happy. Ron told Harry he didn't realise how intense the tournament would be, and apologised for accusing him of putting his name in. I was surprised to see them make up, they had been in a dispute all the time that I have known either of them. I took a slice of cake and prepared to go.
"I'm going to leave you all to your celebrations." I told Harry, Hermione and Ron.
"What? Where are you going?" Hermione asked.
"Oh just back to my dorm, I feel like i'm intruding." I laughed.
"No, no! Your not intruding! It's my celebration after all, if I request you to stay your surely welcome." Harry replied.
"Oh, invited by the champion himself. You can't leave now." Ron teased.
"Besides you're one of us!"
"Yeah, I bet if you went to Hogwarts you would be a Gryffindor, you're too cool to be anything else. This might aswell be your common room!"
"Fine, fine I get it! You have convinced me!"
"Good. Also are you going to eat that?" Ron motioned to my cake.
"Get your own slice!" I swatted his hand away. We laughed and someone put on a wizard radio, we awkwardly danced together laughing at how bad we all where.
