I glanced at Marco.
“Hey, Marco can you attend that costumer? She’s requesting for you” I heard Hanako talking at Marco.
Marco sighed in annoyance but followed the customer’s request anyway. Since Marco talked with his mother, he has been acting strange all day but only to me. He has been avoiding me. I got the chance to apologize for what I did this morning, about his face. He said it was fine, but he’s still avoiding me. What did his Mother told him?
“Hey, Something wrong? You looked bothered by something.” Zarah asked me.
“Is it that obvious?”I asked. She nodded. “It’s just Marco has been avoiding me all day. He even forgot about having lunch with me.” Zarah’s eyes widen.
“He asked you to have lunch with him?” I nodded in responds. “Do you know what that means?” my reaction says it all. What?“He was asking you to a date,” she said smiling maliciously.
“No I’m sure that’s not that.” Right, he asked me that in return for sleeping with me. Don’t get your hopes up Eli. I wonder when it all started. I wonder when I started to like Marco.
“Hey Elizabeth! You look different.” It was Mother. I stand there frozen. My heart is aching. It’s the same sentence that Marco said tome earlier. I turned my back.
“Hey Mom. You came.” I said while hugging her.
“John invited me.” She said.
“Sorry I didn’t have the chance to invite you. Where’s John?” I said smiling at her. I see Marco glanced at me but he looked away in an instant.
“He’s just running along somewhere. It’s okay. Now let’s test out the food here.” Mom sat at a table. The boys surrounded her.
“Your Mom’sseems popular.” Zarah whispered to me with amusement. I giggled. Mom looks younger compared to her age. She looks like my big sister honestly.
Thenthe day went by, still nothing from Marco. The class celebrated our successful first day. Zarah invited me but I declined. I went back to the dorm, hoping for Marco to be there. On my way there, I spotted Marco with his Mom.
“Marco, she’s you’re half sister. You have the same Father. She’s the child from your father’s other woman.” Marco’s mother cried in anger. I accidentally eavesdropped.
“I know, you told me already.” Marco replied plainly. Whom are they referring?
In the dorm, I was waiting for Marco to come home. I waited and waited but he didn’t. Before I knew it, it was already the 2nd day of the Cultural festival, still no sign of Marco.
On my way to my classroom, I spotted Elliot.
“Hi Elizabeth” he smiled innocently.
“Call me Eli, please. Have you seen Marco?” I said
“I think I spotted him at the rooftop.” again? At the rooftop?
“Thanks Elliot.” I waved goodbye and quickly made my way to the Rooftop.
I saw him staring at the sky, obviously thinking about something rather deep. He sensed me and got up quickly.“Wait! Marco!” He tried jumpingoff the rooftop but before that could happen, I grabbed him and pinned him down to the floor.
“Why are you avoiding me?” I felt my tears running down. “What’s wrong? Did I do something bad?” I rested my head on him shoulders.
“Don’t cry gorilla.” I snapped, even in this very moment, you arestill going to tease me. “Just don’t cry Elizabeth” his voice softens.
“Just tell me what’s wrong already?” I said. He lets out a sigh.
