Winter's Cold (KingdomCraft Story: Book 2)

Prologue

It's now been 4 months since the battle against Miseria and winter has come. A lot has changed. Lizzie and Joel have began dating, nobody has been taken control of by their dark sides, Scott's cousin Gemini has moved into Firestone Castle after a few people teamed up to try and kidnap her. Shelby's cousin, Ross, has began dating Max and he moved out to live with his parents for a while since his father took not well. Shelby has begun to get along with her Aunt Haven, and she will visit once a week.

All the royals wake up and look out their bedroom windows to see the snow falling gracefully from the sky. Even in the Desert, it was snowing. Shelby gasped when she saw it, she had never seen snow before in her life. It was strange to her, but magical at the same time. She grinned. She had dreamed of this day.

She rushes over to her closet and digs around the back. She knows that somewhere in here is a dress made especially for the Winter occasion. Of course, she only ever wore it on Christmas day, or as most Alvarian's will call it, the day of the Starry Snowfall, as it is when the stars appear the brightest in the sky.

Of course, right now it's only November, but all the royals were excited none the less as they began getting dressed into their winter clothes. The sun was only just rising, but that didn't stop them from waking up early.

Shelby raced down the stairs of the castle and towards the front entrance of the castle while pulling on her hat. She hadn't even brushed her hair, she was that excited, but then she skidded to a stop. "What if it's dangerous?" she questions. She doesn't know much about Winter since she had barely ever seen it.

Scott was just helping Gemini to pull on her gloves when his bracelet buzzed. He picked it up from his nightstand and answered it. "Hello?" she asks.

"Hey Scott! Mind if I ask you something?" Shelby asks.

"Sure, what's up?" he questions.

"This may sound silly but... is snow dangerous?" Shelby asks.

Scott pauses and chuckles, "No, why would you think that?".

"Well, I just wanted to ask since it's snowing here in the Desert somehow, and i've never seen snow before" she laughs.

Scott laughs again, "Shelby, don't you remember you stepped in snow when we raided Lizzie's base?" he asks.

Shelby pauses, "That's true... but it wasn't deep snow that we stepped into, it was a very thin layer since we were on the outskirts".

Scott chuckles, "You want me to come over?" he asks.

"Sure, I'll invite Callum too!" Shelby chirps.

"Okay, see you soon!" Scott says, "Oh wait, i'm bringing Gemini too" he says.

"Okay, bye!" Shelby chirps, ending the call.

Scott turns to Gemini with a smile, "Come along" he says. Gemini nods and follows Scott into his closet where his waystone is.

They arrive in Shelby's bedroom and then make their way out after a quick greeting from Shadow who was asleep on the bed when they arrived. She ended up following them all the way to the front entrance where Shelby was waiting.

As they arrive, they see Shelby nervously poking her head out. "Hey Shelby" Scott greets, walking up next to her.

"Hey" she says.

"Did you call Callum?" Scott questions.

Shelby nods, "Yes but he won't be able to come over since he is meeting up with some old friends from school today" she says.
