---------- Desert Kingdom ~ Sandshire Castle ------------
(4 days after the prologue)
Shelby sighs as she lays down in her bed. She's been thinking about her parents a lot more recently, but it made sense, since her mother's birthday was in 3 days time. She rolls onto her side and kind of curls up. She always wondered how her parents had met. Her mother always told her that they had met in her mother's 5th year of primary school, but Shelby didn't know if that was the whole truth.
She had never asked anybody about it, not even her Aunt Haven and Uncle Patrick, but now she thought... is now a good time?
She lay there for another few minutes, clutching her necklace before finally sitting up, tossing her legs off of the bed. She wanted to know how they really met.
She arrives at the stables and goes to Fayren's stall, getting on her back, not bothering to put a saddle and reins on her. "Come on" she says, patting Fayren's neck.
Shelby and Fayren make their way to Haven's home in the dunes, pushing their way through the five inches of snow. Shelby had visited her Aunt and cousins just a couple days ago, but now she wanted to know the truth about her parents meet up.
She arrives, jumps off of Fayren's back and then carefully makes her way across the shallow lake that has Haven's home in the middle of it, on a lonesome island. Climbing onto the sandbank, she made her way up the staircase and knocked. She heard somebody squeal in surprise on the other side, which Shelby recognised as Quig. She chuckled under her breath.
The door opens and Quig peers out, "Oh, Hey Shelby. You startled me" he says.
Shelby giggles, "I know, I heard you squeal" she laughs.
He blushes but steps aside to allow her inside. "What can I help you with?" Quig, Shelby's younger cousin, asks.
"Well, I wanted to ask, is your mum home? I need to ask her something" Shelby speaks, taking a seat on the sofa.
"Yes, she's upstairs, I'll go get her" he says before making his way up the stairs. Shelby sits there for a minute, staring into the fireplace, but then she hears her Aunt's voice. "Hello Shelby" she says, sitting down next to the Desert Queen.
"I wanted to ask... how did my parents really meet?" she questions.
Haven's eyebrow raises, "Why the sudden interest?".
"I don't know, I just really wanted to know the truth, I guess" Shelby shrugs, leaning back into the couch.
"I can tell you, but I think you'd rather experience it" Haven says, placing her hand on Shelby's forehead. Shelby jumps slightly but then relaxes, closing her eyes and letting herself drift off.
Haven catches Shelby as she passes out. She lays her down gently on the couch. "What did you do?" Quig questions, rushing over.
"She's going through a memory" Haven says to her son, "She'll be okay".
Shelby opens her eyes and finds herself laying on the ground. She looks around and sees that she's outside of Silent Winds Primary School, but obviously in the past since there is no snow on the ground. It was obvious that the bell to finish the day had just gone off since students were piling out.
Shelby scanned the crowds while stepping out of the way, trying to see if she could recognise anyone. Her eyebrow rises as she recognises a younger version of Pearl's mother, making her smile. She didn't know that Pearl's mum went to this school.
