Xavier was just coming back from a date when he eventually made it back to the apartment. He looked into the living room and was surprised to see Thomas nursing a beer."What are you still doing awake?" Xavier asked.
Thomas looked up to the voice and saw it was his roommate. Thomas went back to messing with the drink in his hands as he said, "I couldn't sleep."
"Anything I can help with? I think I have a couple of sleeping pills laying around here somewhere." Xavier offered.
Thomas was shaking his head because he felt like he deserved the torment over the recent events. After the breakup with Ethan, Thomas was still blaming himself for letting him go so easily.
"How was your date anyway?" Thomas asked his friend.
Xavier smirked as he suggestively hinted, "She brought a friend too..."
Thomas chuckled as he then chose to not ask Xavier anymore questions. Instead, Thomas just waved goodbye at the other man who was going to his own room. And soon enough, Thomas was left alone in the darkness once again.
Thomas had went to fetch his third bottle when he got a phone call from a number he didn't recognise. Thomas was curious to see who was on the other end of the phone, and being a little tipsy clouded his judgement as he picked it up.
"Hello?" Thomas said warily.
"Listen here you piece of shit, nobody disrespects my brother and gets away with it..."
Thomas scrunched his face as he pulled the phone away from his ear. He looked at the screen and he was positive he didn't recognise the number, so he put it back to his ear when he asked who was talking to him.
"It's Kristen!" She answered as if it was obvious. "The sister of the man you messed up!"
"How are you even calling me?" Thomas was positive that he cut out Ethan's side of the family, so that they couldn't try and reach him.
"This is Harrison's phone, and because he's never called you before, you couldn't ignore him." Kristen explained.
Thomas had heard enough and he was ready to call it a night. "I'm hanging up now."
"You fucking broke him!"
Kristen listened carefully to see if she could hear Thomas' breathing. Given that the call didn't end, Kristen continued elaborating. "You broke his heart Thomas, and no bastard is going to do that to my little brother."
Thomas swapped his drink for something stronger as he tried to digest this information. His own heart was breaking at leaving Ethan, and it was breaking even more after hearing about Ethan's own rough patch.
Thomas swallowed the lump in his throat as he felt like he was going to regret asking, "How is he?"
Kristen peeked her head into the living room to see Harrison taking care of Ethan. "He's currently passed out on the couch because he's drunk of his ass -and not the happy kind..."
"I'm sor-"
"Save it!" Kristen silenced Thomas' apology because she didn't want it. She wanted to vent her anger at him as she continued, "Ethan deserves someone so much better that an asshole who is going to leave him behind like that."
