One morning, Kristen was carrying a homemade lasagna she brought over for Ethan as she stood outside his door. She used the spare key Ethan gave to the family and let herself into Ethan's home.Kristen immediately took the lasagna to the kitchen and stored it inside the fridge. She knowingly shook her head once she saw how empty the fridge was, and called out for Ethan, who was somewhere in the house.
"Ethan?!" Kristen screamed from the kitchen. "Where are you?"
Hearing footsteps coming from upstairs, Kristen stood at the bottom of them and called out for her brother again. "Ethan? Is that you?"
"Yeah I'm up here." Ethan shouted from his bedroom.
Kristen began to climb the stairs so that she could talk to her brother. "Is it safe to come in?" Kristen semi-seriously asked because she remembered the last time she didn't knock.
"Of course it's safe," Ethan laughed. "I'm just packing."
Eventually making it to Ethan's bedroom, Kristen walked in and saw Ethan carefully packing his suitcase. After exchange a loving hug, Kristen took a seat in the empty chair in Ethan's bedroom.
"What are you doing here?" Ethan asked curiously.
Kristen found a love for cooking ever since she found out she was pregnant. She wanted to practice making food for her family, and so her newly found interest started with her newest test subject.
"I made you a lasagna." Kristen smiled. "I tried a vegetarian one since I forgot to buy minced meat."
Ethan was moved by the fact that his sister, who hated cooking, was willing to make food for him. "As much as I appreciate the gesture, I can't eat it."
"But I followed the recipe this time!" Kristen laughed. "Besides, I've seen your fridge. I know you can cook, so I just think you're being lazy for not even going grocery shopping."
Ethan couldn't hide his smile as he zipped up his suitcase. He didn't buy any food this week because he wasn't going to be home. His plane ride was in a couple of hours time, and Ethan was in a rush to finally be reunited with Thomas.
"I'm taking a couple of days off for myself." Ethan told Kristen. "I don't have long left until my flight."
"Wher-"
Kristen was interrupted from asking her question as she watched Ethan shoo her away, so that he could put on the coat she was sitting on. She then watched how Ethan was nitpicking his appearance in the mirror, and she even got a waft of the aftershave Ethan was hazardously spraying on.
"What are-"
Ethan helped Kristen stand up on her feet as he then zipped up his own coat. He was rolling his small suitcase with him as he was gently ushering the pregnant woman out of the door.
"Why are-"
Ethan was pent up with so much energy that everything was being rushed out like a gushing faucet "I need you to cover for me until I get back. I need you to take the lasagna home before it gets mouldy. Please don't tell mom or dad where I'm going. Please do call me if anything happens to you or the baby. And please make sure you take it easy and rest a lot."
Kristen stared blankly at Ethan as she was waiting for everything to get out of his system. Once Ethan seemed to be finished, Kristen stood with her arms folded as she asked Ethan a very important question.
"Why should I do all of that?" Kristen wondered.
Ethan turned on the puppy dog eyes as he tried to get Kristen to agree to help, without her knowing that he was seeing Thomas. "Because you're my big sister."
