Ethan had started the day in the office as he was sorting out the paperwork for his change in job position. His new ID card was less intimidating because he had fallen down the work hierarchy, but Ethan didn't mind it as he ended up smiling when he placed it in his pocket. After spending the entire morning with Human Resources, Ethan began clearing the office that was previously his. He took the name plate off his door first, as he then started packing the rest of his belongings in a box.
Ethan was calm as he was officially packing his things away. There were only a few belongings that Ethan wanted to take - framed photos of people from his family, a mini cactus that Ethan received as a gift from Thomas, protein bars from his drawer whenever he got hungry, and a massive ball of rubber bands that he liked to mess with when he was bored.
A knock on the door turned Ethan's head towards it. He looked up and saw Lewis was standing at the door, so Ethan invited the other man inside.
"You wanted to see me?" Lewis asked.
Ethan gestured towards the room with a bright smile on his face. "You like this room?"
Lewis furrowed his brows at Ethan as he quickly got irritated by the other man. "Piss off. I can't be bothered with you antagonising me about your job for the billionth time."
Ethan chuckled to himself as he was shaking his head with laughter, because he was going to miss annoying Lewis as much as he could. "This office is yours now."
Lewis crossed his arms as he dryly laughed, "That's not funny."
"I'm not joking!" Ethan laughed harder. "I'm moving away to Argentina for the foreseeable future, so I'm stepping down as COO."
Lewis didn't want to take the bait as he warily asked, "Why?"
Ethan shrugged his shoulders as he then reasoned, "You were much better suited for this job anyway. You had more experience to begin with, you put more time and effort into your work, and you're more professional than me anyway."
Lewis was cautiously looking at Ethan because Ethan had never been so nice to him before. Lewis was feeling appreciated for all of his hard work, as he was also trying to process everything that Ethan was telling him.
"So, do you want this office? I'm afraid it comes with the COO role, but I think you can handle it just fine." Ethan teased.
Another knock on the door soon turned both of their attention to the third man in the room. "You guys finally playing nice?"
Ethan was shocked as a special smile was now effortlessly present on his face. "Thomas?! I was meant to pick you up at the airport!"
"Surprise," Thomas laughed. "My flight here arrived early, so I just got a taxi to meet you here instead."
Ethan couldn't stop himself when he walked up to Thomas and kissed him. He held Thomas gently by the waist as he then smiled into the loving kiss.
Thomas pulled his head away from Ethan as he then kept their bodies close enough so that he could reach down and squeeze Ethan's hands. "Want to get some lunch together?"
Ethan nodded his head as he then entwined their hands together. The reunited pair's blissful mood was interrupted when Lewis awkwardly coughed.
Ethan laughed to himself as he thought about how this was probably a sudden shock to Lewis. "This is my boyfriend, Thomas."
Thomas politely waved at Lewis as he began to ignore the open mouthed man that was standing next to them. Thomas then reached for the box of Ethan's belongings that were on his former desk and carried it in one hand, as Ethan entwined Thomas' other hand with his own.
