Warning...might get confusing😂😅

Winter...

I was lying under one of the tables outside the kitchen. There was a fight here this morning and some tables got smashed pretty badly. The two boys are now in the Slammer for the whole day. And Summer suggested that they should be kept there until they are able to apologize to each other. I support your idea sister. That will mean there will be less work for me. Because fewer shanks equal less broken things.

Of course, because Gally likes me very much...note the sarcasm he assigned me to fix the tables alone. I know he just did it to get a break from me always sassing him. Tho I do appreciate a bit of quiet time. And I am close to the kitchens meaning that as soon as the cooks are done cooking the food will go to me.

"How's it going?" A voice from above me asked and I peeked from under the table to look up at Alby who was inspecting my work.

"Pretty good. It was nothing hard. But next time someone fights they are getting a day for each thing they break." I said, climbing from under the table to sit up straight.

"Yeah, I'll consider adding it to the rules." Alby laughed and plumped down on the grass next to me.

"So, leader, having a time out from work are you?" I teased slightly giving him a smirk. I discarded the hammer in the box with tools that I had next to my leg. I kept the nails in my hand just playing with them a bit.

"Eh, Newt is handling his job as a second in command quite well. He took care of everything, leaving me with a window in my schedule." Alby answered nodding towards Newt who was just passing by with a basket in hand full of vegetables. After he and Summer talked Newt became a whole new person. He was once again smiling, joking and most of all he wasn't negative. Over the two months that passed since then, he even handled his limp quite well.

He and Summer are really, really close and if I listened about Newt being so cute before, now I listen to it constantly. She developed such an unbelievable crush on the limping boy that it was hard to believe that they were still just friends. Both of them being way too shy about the obvious feelings they had. Even I noticed and I am blind to it most of the time.

"Is there any plan of how to get them together finally?" Alby asked when he saw my determined look that was fixed on the back of Newt's back when he was leaving the kitchen after giving Frypan the vegetables.

"You noticed too huh?" I started fiddling with the nail in my hand, pricking myself in the finger a few times but I didn't mind.

"Only blind wouldn't notice. You and Minho have some plan? Cause it is getting quite sad how painfully shy they are." Alby commented with an eye roll.

"Can't agree more my friend." We watched the people going around the glade, doing their work. Now I realized I should really get back to my work if I was to finish it before lunch when everyone piles up here. Or else the gladers will be sitting their asses down on the grass. Not bad either but Gally would have his mouth full of words about me not doing my job. "You know I am now slightly breaking the rule of no slackers because of you." I reminded the dark-skinned leader who just chuckled.

"Alright fine, I'll be on my way before I'll have to put you in the pit for the night and then put myself in as well for distracting you." Alby laughed standing up with a groan. Being in the glade for more than a year can tire a man.

"You better go before you break my no Slammer streak." I was already reaching back for my hammer when saying that.

"I am already gone," Alby called over his shoulder walking away from the tables that still need my gentle hammer slams.
