The Griever attack

Summer...

Once Chuck, Winston, and I managed to get all the goats in their pen I noticed something weird. It was already getting dark...yet the main doors were still opened.

"Winston..." I called the Keeper of the Slicers over to me and he obeyed coming over. "The doors should be closing by now," I muttered pointing towards the doors. Winston nodded, his eyes were slightly wide in fear. No one knows what this could mean for us. But it won't be anything good. "Get everyone together," I ordered him.

"Good that," He said and run in action, going to fetch everyone he could. I noticed a group of boys already in front of the doors. It seemed to be the largest group around and I need Chuck with as many people.

"Chuckie, go join the boys over there and stay with them. Do everything they tell you okay." I send him there and decided to head to the wall that is furthest away from here. Just to see if they stayed open as well. On my way there I passed by the med-hut. Some guys were laying around here just chilling.

These shanks picked the wrong time for that. How is it that when nothing is happening everyone seems to be on full alert but when the shucking potential danger is here they are chilling around like on a sunny day?

"Guys!" I yelled at them angrily and pointed them towards the doors. Immediately they scrambled to their feet and started running to where I pointed them. I grabbed a torch on my way to the Deadheads and started sprinting through, dodging the trees and branches that were getting in my way.

No one ever told me if it was a good idea to run around the woods with a torch but at the moment a potential fire is far less threatening than the fact that the doors can let shucking Grievers in. I jumped over the fallen tree, I thought that Alby ordered the Sloppers to get rid of it.  Ugh, fantastic. After about three minutes I got to the wall. So far it seemed to be closed.

"Uf, okay." Just as I let out the sigh of relief a cracking sound filled the air causing me to cover my ears. These shucking things might burst my eardrum one day. My eyes widened when I saw the doors opening slowly. This can't be good.

Absentmindedly I took a few steps back, trying to prepare myself for what is waiting behind those doors. I have my strong suspicions tho. The walls pulled apart and so far I saw nothing but a dark corridor that I saw million times before. Nothing new.

But the clicking sound made me realize that not everything will be alright. From around the corner the creature that I wished to never see again emerged causing my blood to run cold. What is this a Griever week or something? A special prize spend one night in the maze and get a permanent Griever pet on a special discount?

"Shit," I whispered to myself and started running. A horrible screeching sound filled the space behind me causing me to run faster. There is no way I am letting that thing get me this time. My legs were burning and the ankle felt like it could fall off. I just hope it won't betray me now.

I could hear the Griever so close behind me. Those things didn't seem this fast in the maze. Why is it right behind me now? Why the shuck did I decide to go on a solo mission? Especially to this part of the Glade? Ugh, Winter and Newt are gonna be pissed.

My only hope now is to somehow get to the Glade and hope that the others have some plan because right now I don't know where to hide in here and the only thing I am able to think about right now is how to get rid of this creature. This is a forest...usually full of hiding spots but the Griever is right behind my back! This is not the time for a game of hide and seek.

I started zig-zagging around the trees to try and confuse the monstrous thing behind me. Its shrieks were cutting through my senses like a knife. I allowed myself a quick look behind me. But what the hell was I thinking? I yelled in fright when I saw the thing reaching its metallic claw for me.
