Steve's POV

Persistent ringing awoke me from my sleep, I dejectedly pulled a blanket around me as I mumbled some words that normally I wouldn't say. Nat walked beside me as she tiredly rubbed at her swollen eyes, "I literally just fell asleep." She muttered and I nodded, having done the same thing. We made our way to the front door and I saw Tony was already there having what seemed to be a very heated interaction with this woman. "Can we help you?" I asked, my voice ringing out with clear authority.

The woman peeked from behind Tony and stepped into view, she was short with gray eyes and blonde hair. Her skin was abnormally pale, but she had a sweet smile. "Yes, I'm here to apply for Femme Fatale position on the Avengers team." "This has got to be some sick, cruel joke." Nat spoke up from beside me. The woman cocked her head to one side, still smiling, "No, I'm afraid I'm serious." "We aren't taking applicants, no one can ever fill that spot, right Cap?" Tony's face fell when he noticed me staring intently at the woman. For some reason she seemed familiar although I couldn't place her.

"Right Cap?" Tony asked with less certainty in his voice, "Ofcourse, yes, I'm sorry but that position cannot be applied for." The woman still kept smiling, "Not even when I can do this." Right in front of our eyes the woman shape-shifted. She became taller, leaner, muscular in a womanly way. I looked at her and I was shocked.

Her hair was an array of all different natural hair colours and ran straight down her back, with a few braids in it. A silver and gold crown sat upon her head and entwined with it were living flowers that shifted. Her eyes were multicoloured and they danced with each shift of the light, her lips were red, full and slightly pouty. Her body was what most men considered to be perfect, an hourglass figure and she wore black, silk robes with golden and silver jewelry adorning her legs, arms, and waist. Multicoloured wings fluttered behind her and long, manicured, black nails tapped her leg where the slit of her robes opened.

The woman was very familiar, yet I knew I hadn't ever seen her before. She smiled at me and it was as if we were sharing a private joke, one only the two of us knew. I gasped as realization hit me, the similarity was very subtle but obvious enough for me to discern. I could feel tears prick my eyes again as I looked at the woman standing in front of me, "Megan?" I called out, afraid to know the answer. "Yes, Steve." It was her voice, Megan's voice, not like that high-pitch one the blonde woman had.

"Meg?" Nat asked, walking towards her, the woman laughed, "Well actually my form right now is Lady Eros, the goddess, hold on." Megan changed back into how she usually looked, still as beautiful as ever. Don't get me wrong, she was beautiful either way, but the other lady scared me. Megan's goddess form was like a supermodel, surreal and unapproachable but still gorgeous, but there was power, power glinting dangerously in her eyes and power and energy radiating off her body, sending waves of fear and inferiority towards us.

This Megan though, this Megan was immensely gorgeous, and she was approachable, she was like a regular human being. Nat rushed forward and crushed her in a hug, she sobbed into her neck, "I missed you." Nat wailed and that was the most emotion any of us had ever seen from Nat. Megan patted her back, "I know, and I'm sorry. I promise I'll explain everything." Nat took her face into her hands and started to kiss her all over as Megan giggled, "Nat, you're gonna make the guys think we're lesbians." "I am for you." Nat said in between kisses and the two girls laughed like they used to.

Soon Tony, Clint and even Bruce had joined the hug, all of them crushing the life out of Megan, "Don't ever scare me like that again." Tony warned Megan and she laughed, "Awee, did someone miss me?" "Only because you're my fuckbuddy." "TONY." He laughed at Megan's disgusted expression, but she pulled him in and gave him a big kiss on his cheek. Megan separated herself from all of them to see Thor staring at her with tears streaming down his face, "It's not your fault." She whispered as she pulled Thor in for a hug too. At first he was too surprised to react but slowly he wrapped his arms tightly around her.

She disentangled herself from Thor and looked at me, in an instant I rushed forwards and took her in my arms, I pressed a sweet, lingering kiss to her lips as she responded back immediately, her hands wrapped around my neck. When we broke apart she looked into my eyes, "I still haven't forgiven you and we still aren't together." I laughed, "One day we will be." She smiled in my arms and rested her head on my chest, "One day." She repeated.

"It was like no pain I had ever felt before, my limbs felt like they were burning off of me, my organs seemed to leave my body and then jump back in, my skin seemed to be melting off of me, it was horrible." Megan recounted, all of us gathered around her on the couch. Her hand was wrapped tightly around mine and I counted that as progress.

"Zeus was always an ass." Thor muttered when Megan told us about his threat, "You've met him?" Megan's eyes widened. "Yes, sometimes our realms interconnect." Megan nodded her head in understanding while the rest of us were absolutely lost. "The only thing that kept me going was hearing Steve's voice in my head." I blushed when I heard that while Tony wiggled his eyebrows at me. "You could hear my voice?" Megan nodded, "Yeah, I'm sorry you suffered so much, I wanted to tell you but I was sort of unable to at the time." She smiled a one-sided smirk, like she usually did when she was nervous but didn't want to admit it. "It's alright, I'm just glad you're back." She smiled and kissed my cheek.

Tony clasped his hands together, "Well, I need to sleep, what about you guys?" Everyone nodded and Megan got up, she hugged everyone one last time and walked off to her room. Nat and I were walking back to our own quarters when I stopped in front of Megan's door, Nat raised her eyebrows but didn't say anything. She just smirked and winked at me, pointing to the wall her and Megan share and her ears.

I ignored her and knocked, Megan didn't respond, maybe she's already asleep I thought and then I heard soft crying from inside. I opened the door and saw her curled on her bed, tears streaming down her face, "Meg?" I asked softly, she looked up at me and bit her lip, "I'm sorry Steve."
