EDIT X

Ava

"This is fraud! Deception! Scam!" I shout, throwing pillows from the sofa at Kai who was laying in bed, laughing at me, "I knew something was suspicious when you 'Ava'" I mock remembering the way he called for me. Loser.

Kai narrows his eyes, "I'll have you know, I am an actor,"

I stare at him blankly before sighing, I should sue him, he lied to me, drugged me and brought me back to this place!

"Hey, look you made it safe and well," Kai shrugs, getting out of bed to sit besides me on the sofa.

"Kai. You know when we have to go back home, we have to get on that again, so... What's your thoughts on long distance?" I ask, seriously. I guess, I could try and move to a different city, maybe they won't murder me. Maybe.

Kai raises a brow, "you really think I'm gonna leave you behind, very funny," Kai leans down to put his head on my lap, "we're gonna be okay," he reassures. I don't know if I will.

I hum, running my hands through Kai's hair as we sat in peaceful silence, not really ready to face the chaos in the coming days, me mostly, I don't really know what Kai exactly planned or what I should really be prepared for.

.

.

"And this is where I spent all my days avoiding everyone," I point, dragging Kai towards the small cafe at the end of the road.

"Looks cozy," Kai comments once we're inside the cafe, instantly I feel surrounded by the familiar warmth, reminding me of the bittersweet past.

"It is and they serve the best coffee, well they used to when I worked here, don't know about now," Looking around with a big smile on my face, trying to ignore the few glances Kai was getting, I lead him away and towards the counter, as usual there was no one behind it.

Shaking my head I press the bell next to the cash machine, leaning back towards Kai a little to warn, "prepare yourself,"

I could hear her yelling from back as she made her way to the front, "Which one you rowdy teenagers pressed my bell?! If it's behind the counter, you-" once noticing us, she stops, the angry expression slowly slipping.

I smile at the elderly lady, who looks exactly the same, expect maybe her eye bags look darker and she looks even more tired out. She stood in the same place, staring gape at me then looking up at Kai.

"Ava?" She voices out, "Ava? Is that really you?" Clara slowly walks around the counter and in front of me, I let go of Kai and stand in front of her, nodding to her question.

"Hello, old cranky lady," I greet, giving her my most genuine smile. She breaths a sigh of relief and pulls into her arms.

"You- you're back," I pull away slightly to find her eyes filled with unshed tears.

Smirking, I narrow my eyes at her, "Told you, you'd miss me," how could she not, I'm amazing.

She playfully grabs my ear, "here I am crying and you're making fun out of me, somethings never change do they,"

Groaning in pain I try moving away, "ow! And you pulling my ear hasn't either,"

Shaking her head she lets go and gestures to Kai with her head, "and who may this be?"

Awkwardly laughing I scratch the back of my head, "well you see he's... my landlord!"

She raises a brow and stares between us, "you brought your landlord back with you?" Yep!

Kai steps forward, extending his hand out for Clara, "Kaison, Ava's boyfriend," Nodding I stand besides Kai, "what he said!"

Clara hesitatingly shakes Kai's hand and introduces herself, "Clara. Now, how exactly did she manage to trap a handsome fella like you?"

I gasp offended, stepping closer to her, "hey! I'll have you know, he trapped me!" I hear Kai laugh before he nods along.

Clara grabs my arm, leading me towards one of the empty tables and taking a seat leaving me and Kai to sit opposite her.

"Now tell me, where did you disappear to?" Clara starts, reaching forward to grab my hand which I gladly take.

I start from the beginning, telling Clara how the past year has been, all the people I've met along the way, "Aiden is basically a non-verbal version of you, he's so cranky!"

Clara laughs, throwing her head back a little, "Sounds like my favourite type of people, next time bring him along," As if he'd ever join me, but also as if they'd be a next time.

We spent the rest of the evening chatting to Clara, she told me about her daughters wedding and how she's been struggle to find a good worker to match up to me, which is impossible, but one can try.

After while I was starting to get hungry for some real food, so we decided to say bye to Clara, promising to visit her before leaving again. Even though I told her, I might here to stay this time, which Kai denied.

"Where to now?" Kai asks, once we step outside the cafe, heading back towards the car, the days gotten darker since we walked in, even a little colder. I snuggle closer to Kai to find some warmth.

"Chip shop!" I've missed some good old fish and chips, it doesn't taste the same California. Kai furrows his brows before nodding along, "we can grab some and eat back at the hotel,"

I snuggle closer to Kai to find some warmth and decide to ask him what exactly will we be doing, "so how's this gonna go down? What do I need to plain for?" Looking up at Kai for his answer, I find him smirking, clear amusement in face.

"Oh trust me, it's gonna be fun,"

What have I gotten myself into...?
