MADDILYN AND SEVERUS SNAPE could rely on each other through thick or thin. Born to a neglective mother and an abusive father, they only had each other.
Severus protected his sister the best he could from his parents, taking the punishments from his father, and stealing food for the both of them.
Many mistook the Snape siblings as twins. However, Severus was born January 9th, 1960, and his sister was born that winter, on December 1st.
Maddie and Severus already knew that the person who birthed them (the two refused to call her their mum), was a witch.
What they weren't expecting was two owls flying in and dropping two letters addressed to Maddie and Severus.
"Oh my holy Merlin! We've been accepted into Hogwarts!" Maddie exclaimed. She'd heard of the tales in hear younger years, when Eileen Snape could actually be considered a caring mother.
"I wonder if Lily got her letter," Severus said thoughtfully. Severus had formed a connection with the Muggle-born witch down the street.
A knock sounded on the door. "That's probably Lily," Maddie replied.
"WHO IS IT!" their drunken father yelled down. Tobias Snape was not a man you wanted to cross, and with the slowly declining love between Tobias and Eileen Snape, the elder Snape was more angry than happy.
"Just the mail carrier," Maddie said quickly, pulling Severus and slamming the door. She hoped her father accepted the lie, and didn't come down for himself to investigate.
"Hey, Sev, Maddie," Lily Evans said, a bright smile adorning her face.
"Hey, Flower-Girl," Maddie said, smiling, pulling the red-head in for a hug.
"I was wondering if you two wanted to join me in going to Diagon Alley?" Lily asked. "I just got my Hogwarts acceptance letter. It's just as you told me, Sev."
"Sorry, but I've got to finish up doing my chores. I'm sure Sevy would love to go," Maddie said, winking at her older brother as she walked past the stoic boy. "Have fun, and don't forget my supplies!"
ON SEPTEMBER FIRST, MADDILYN and Severus Snape ran into the barrier, that separated the Muggle world and magical world.
"There's Lily!" Maddie said in excitement, looking in awe at the fantastical train station Eileen Snape had told them only in stories.
The said girl made her way through the crowds of grown ups, who were making their way to the famous scarlet Hogwarts Express.
"Hey!" Lily Evans said, her smile wide.
"Hey, Lils," Severus and Maddie said in unison.
"Are you guys sure you're not twins? The sibling telepathy you guys have is uncanny," Lily said, giggling while she looked in between the two.
"We're sure, Lils, and we've got a birth certificate to prove it," Maddie said.
Lily laughed at the raven-haired girl's words.
"Let's board, the train's going to leave soon," Lily said.
The Snapes nodded in agreement and the two looked around to find an empty apartment. They found one with two boys, their age, who were talking to each other.
"Oi, are these seats available?" Maddie inquired
The two looked up. "Yeah, you guys can sit there," one of them consented.
"I'm Maddie, you can call me Maddie, this is my brother, Severus, and our friend Lily," Maddie said.
"I'm Sirius, this is-" the boy was cut off.
