Cover It Up

"Mother? Mum? Mother? M-Mum? Mummy? Guys she . . . she's broken! We broke her!" Leigh's act was down because Jesy had told her that she had done it and had done an excellent job.

She had successfully gotten her mom to take the burger and to actually have a bite. After the first bite Jesy and Leigh had witnessed tears start running out of the woman's eyes while she froze, holding it in her mouth. She had not whimpered at all but the tears had been relentless. And in this moment the tears still were relentless and the bite was still happening. The lady was like a statue.

Jesy seemed to not have expected this. She watched drool leak out of Deidri's mouth. "It's like she's stuck."

And now she bit off the piece of the food, chewed quickly and swallowed.

Leigh and Jesy were both stunned. That had happened out of nowhere and very quickly. They would say something but they didn't want to pull her out of this trance.

Deidri's eyes still leaked as she stared at the food. Now she kept eating and did so very quickly.

"I-is she going too fast?" Leigh whispered fiercely to Jesy.

"She . . ." Jesy was staring in amazement.

In no time the burger was gone and Leigh's mother's hands were empty.

The two girls exchanged looks before staring back at the woman, wondering what she would do.

Deidri wiped her eyes with both her hands and . . . her face became a bit dirty with ketchup and mustard.

Oh goodness. Should I wipe it off for her? Leigh felt bad for her mum. "M-"

Out of nowhere, the woman started to cry racking sobs.

Jesy's eyes widened briefly.

Leigh held a hand to her mouth. The tears which had been there earlier had been one thing- shocking enough- but this? This was . . . Who is this person?? Her mother was really breaking down before her eyes.

Deidri was crying like a baby! It was weird. Bawling her head off and fanning at her face, gasping for breath and looking about ready to topple over, which she did.

She was on the ground now, rolling and getting on.

"Reinforcements! She broke down! She's breaking down and it's worse than we thought!" Jesy was calling for the rest of the gang who were hiding around the area.

Perrie, Hoseok and Jungkook came forward and surrounded her.

"Oh no." Jungkook felt sorry for her. She was so sad. "Leigh-Anne hug your mommy."

"What? I-I . . . but she . . ." Leigh was scared and shocked. She never thought that she would ever see her mom cry. And if she did she wouldn't imagine it to look like this. The sobs were . . . her mom kind of sounded like a sad teenage girl crying over a breakup. She sounds like me! And to think that her mom had always given her so much talk for being so weepy all the time. Maybe my crying reminded her of what her own would sound like.

Hoseok seemed nervous. He was twitching a bit and looking around.

"You okay there?" Perrie rubbed his back.

Hoseok had tears in his eyes. "She's so sad." He couldn't handle it. He could literally feel her pain from her sobs. "S-so much . . . pent up . . . emotions." A tear left his own eye.

Perrie looked down at Leigh's mom and felt her own heart hurt. This really was sad.

Jesy sighed. "We can't leave her here to roll around in the dirt. We need to get her a comfortable place to do this." She turned to Perrie, seeming the least affected by what was happening on the ground before them. "Is lunch over as yet? We can't move through the halls if everyone is around."
