Ch 9 Vale And Secrets

Y/N POV

Me and team RWBY are walking through the streets of Vale which was being set up. As we walk Weiss speaks about how she is excited for the Vytal festival and how much planning is involved. I don't really care for the tournament; I turn my head and see a store being taped up by the police. We walk over and see two police officers.

Ruby: "What happened here?"

Officer1: "Robbery, second dust shop to be hit this week. This place is turning into a jungle."

Yang: "That's terrible."

Officer2: "They left all the money again."

Officer1: "Yeah, it just doesn't make a lick of sense. Who needs that much dust"

Officer2: "I don't know. Maybe a army?"

Officer1: "You thinking the uh, white fang?"

Officer2: "Yeah, I'm thinking we don't get paid enough."

Weiss: "The white fang, what a awful bunch of degenerates."

Blake: "What's your problem?"

Weiss: "I simply don't care for the criminally insane."

Blake: "The white fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths, they're a collection of misguided faunus."

Weiss: "Misguided? They want to wipe humanity off the face of the planet."

Blake: "So then they're very misguided. Either way it doesn't explain why they would rob a shop in the middle of downtown Vale."

Ruby: "Blake's got a point. Besides the police never captured that Torchwick guy I ran into a few months ago. Maybe it was him."

I tune out their conversation and think to myself.

Y/N: (thoughts) "This Torchwick guy, he was there when I shot that tracker onto that fire user. I don't know their exact connection but it is likely they are partners. If I go after that tracker their is a good chance I'll run into Roman."

Weiss: "Quick, we have to observe him!"

We then took off after a blonde monkey faunus. We turn around a corner and Weiss bumps into someone. I look at the person and see a girl with orange hair and wearing a green dress.

???: "Salutations."

Ruby: "Hello."

Yang: "Are you? Okay?"

???: "I'm wonderful. Thank you for asking."

Yang: "Do you want to get up?"

???: "Yes."

The girl jumps to her feet.

Penny: "My name is Penny. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Ruby: "Hi Penny. I'm Ruby."

Weiss: "I'm Weiss."

Blake: "Blake.

Y/N: "Y/N."

Yang: "Are you sure you didn't hit your head?"

Me and Blake both lightly hit her.

Yang: "Oh, I'm Yang."

Penny: "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Weiss: "You already said that."

Penny: "So I did."

Weiss: "Well, sorry for running into you."

Ruby: "Take care friend."

Yang: "She was weird."

Weiss: "Now, where did that faunus riffraff run off to?"

We look forward and see Penny standing in front of us somehow.

Penny: "What did you call me?"

Yang: "Oh, I'm really sorry. I definitely didn't think you heard me."

Penny: "No not you."

She walks past us and up to Ruby.

Penny: "You."

Ruby: "Me. I. I don't know I what I uh,"

Penny: "You called me friend am I really your friend?"

Ruby looks at us and everyone but me is telling her to say no. I just smile and give her a thumbs up.

Ruby: "Yeah, sure, why not?"

Penny: "Sensational! We can paint our nails and try on new clothes and talk about cute boys like him."

She points and looks at me when she says the last part and I smile.

Y/N: "I thank you for the compliment."

We continue to talk and we find out that Penny is here to fight in the tournament. After that Blake and Weiss get into a fight over faunus and it lasts all the way back to Beacon.

Weiss: "You realize you're defending an organization that hates humanity don't you? The faunus of the white fang are pure evil."

Blake: "There is no such thing as pure evil. Why do you think they hate humanity so much? It's because of people like Cardin people like you that force the white fang to take such drastic measures."

Weiss: "People like me?"

Blake: "You're discriminatory."

Weiss: "I'm a victim. You want to know why I despise the white fang so much? Why I don't particularly trust the faunus? It's because they've been at war with my family for years. War, as in actual bloodshed. My grandfather's company has had a target painted across its back for as long as I can remember and ever since I was a child, I've watched family, friends disappear, board members executed, an entire train car full of dust stolen. And every day, my father would come home furious and that made for a very difficult childhood."

Ruby: "Weiss, I..."

Weiss: "You want to know why despise the white fang? It's because they're a bunch of liars, thieves and murderers."

Blake: "Well, maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!"

There is a moment of silence and Blake runs out of the room. I give chase and see her stop at the statue in front of the school. She takes off her bow and reveals cat ears underneath it. I walk up to her when she sees me and steps back.

Blake: "What, are you here to mock me like Cardin?"

Y/N: "No, I just came here to look after a friend. How long were you going to wait to tell the others?"

Blake: "I was hoping they would never have to know."

Y/N: "Blake, there are many things we want to keep hidden from everyone. But one way or another those things get figured out."

Blake: "I need some time alone."

Y/N: "Ok, just don't do anything reckless."

Blake: "Ok."

Y/N: "In the meantime I'll tell your teammates that I lost you and don't know where you went."

Blake: "Thank you."

She leaves and I am left alone. I pull out my scroll and see the tracker is still in the same location. I call my locker and pull out my weapon. I clip it to my thigh and head off to the tracker.
