Ch 4 Night And Initiation Pt 1

Y/N POV

We arrive at a large room with a stage and we stand around. Ozpin walks up to the microphone and gives a speech but I don't really pay attention. I'm more focused on whether or not this man truly is my father. I mean he looks like him and he sounds like he did when I grow up. But what confuses me the most is if he is my father then how did he survive all these centuries? I saw his body that day so he should be dead. Just then the blonde huntress from before makes her way to the microphone.

Blonde: "You will gather at the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready, you are dismissed."

Ruby POV

We are laying inside the ballroom and I'm writing a letter to my friends back at Signal.

Yang: "What's that?"

Ruby: "A letter to the gang back at Signal, I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going."

Yang: "Aw, that's so cute."

Ruby: *tosses pillow at her* "Shut up. I didn't get to take my friends with me to school. It's weird not knowing anyone here."

Yang: "What about Jaune? He's...nice. There you go, plus one friend. That's a one hundred percent increase."

Ruby: "Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend, back to zero."

Yang: "But you also have Y/N so back to one friend."

I feel my cheeks heat up when she mentions Y/N. This doesn't go unnoticed by Yang.

Yang: *smug* "Does my sister have a crush?"

Ruby: *hits Yang with pillow* "No! I don't!"

Y/N POV

I look and see Ruby hitting Yang with a pillow and decide to head over to them.

Y/N: "Hey, how are you two doing?"

Yang: "Great, just giving my sister a hard time."

Ruby: *pouts* "She's being mean."

Y/N: "She's only doing it because she loves you as a sister."

Ruby: "Do you have any siblings?"

I freeze and tense up with tears starting to well up.

Yang: "You oaky?"

Y/N: *wipes away tears* "Yeah, it's just family is a bit of a sensitive subject to me."

Ruby: "Bad childhood?"

Y/N: "That's putting it mildly."

Ruby: *hugs me* "I'm sorry for bringing it up."

Y/N: *hugs back* "It's okay, you didn't know."

We break the hug and I leave for my sleeping bag. I get there and see that Blake girl across from me reading a book. She sees me and smiles and I smile back.

Blake: "I hope the light doesn't bother you."

Y/N: "It won't I can fall asleep with it on. What book are you reading?"

Blake: "A man with two souls."

Y/N: "I read that one but I haven't read the sequel yet."

Blake: "You like to read?"

Y/N: "Yeah, back where I'm from we didn't have a lick of electricity so to help pass time I read."

Blake: "I don't suppose you have any recommendations?"

Y/N: "I highly recommend the howling at the moon series."

Blake: "What is it about?"

Y/N: "A man who can't quite reach the thing he loves."

Blake: "It sounds like it could be good."

Y/N: *reaches into bag and pulls out book* "Here you can borrow mine. It is the first in the series."

Blake: *grabs book* "That's very kind of you."

Y/N: "Well, it's getting late and we have a big day tomorrow."

Blake: "Goodnight."

Y/N: "See you in the morning."

The sun shines through the windows and onto my face waking me up. I stand up and put on the clothes I had on yesterday. I look around and see everyone still sleeping; I head to the cafeteria and pick up five trays of breakfast. I arrange the trays on my arms and use my magic to keep them from falling. I reach the ballroom and see some hyperactive ginger buzzing around the room and talking to a boy with a pink streak in his hair. I spot the four girls and they all wake up. I hand them their food. They each say their thanks and eat. When they were finished we head to the locker room and get our weapons. I reach into my locker and strap my weapon my thigh. I take April's stuffed animal that I kept in good condition and hold it to my forehead.

Y/N: "Wish your big brother good luck today."

I clip the animal on a hook and it dangles from my left hip. I close my locker and head over to where I see Weiss.

Weiss: "Jaune, is it? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"

Y/N: "Pyrrha Nikos. World renowned fighter and winner of the Mistral regional tournament for four years running."

Weiss: "At least someone knows."

Y/N: "Hello Ms. Nikos."

Pyrrha: "Hello."

Y/N: "It must be hard being a celebrity. Constantly being hounded by fans and being treated as some kind of rare species instead of a regular human."

Pyrrha: "It can be hard at times but I learned to live with it."

Y/N: "If you will allow it I would like to be your first official friend."

I stick my hand out and she gingerly takes.

Y/N: "I hope we can be the best of friends."

She just nods while looking to the side with some red going to her cheeks. I look at Weiss and Jaune and they look at me wide eyed.

Jaune: "Dude, how are you so smooth?"

Y/N: "I'm just being honest and myself."

Jaune nods and then proceeds to hit on Weiss. I can tell she is starting to get a little annoyed and thankfully a announcement comes on saying for first years to report to Beacon cliff. I decide to help Weiss and grab Jaune by his hoodie and drag him away.

Y/N: "Come on Casanova."

We arrive at the cliff and Ozpin and the blonde go over the rules. They say the first person we make eye contact with will be our partner for the next four years. We are flung off the cliff by launch pads and are sent into the forest below.
