Chapter 12 - Why They Left

Kovu gave off a sigh just as he began.

Kovu was at the edge of the Outlands. He was practising his pouncing skills when all of a sudden, he accidentally bumps into someone.

Kovu growls as he looks at who did it. A female lion stepped back in fear after hearing Kovu growl. The two of them began to talk to each other. Kovu walked onto a branch that overhung over the water while the female followed him. "I take care of myself." Kovu told her as the two of them were now on when all of a sudden he turned to the girl and screamed in fear. A crocodile appeared out from the water and was now attacking the duo. Kovu and the girl were attacking the crocodiles in defence when Kovu came up with an idea. Kovu ran away so that the girl could save herself. Kovu kept on defending himself when all of a sudden, the branch broke and he fell in. The crocodiles noticed and swam over to him. He began to panic asone of the corcodiles opened its mouth but the lioness landed on top of its jaw which shut it so it gave the two of them a chance to escape.

After climbing a tree, the duo began to pant in exhaustion. "You were really brave back there." The girl told Kovu. "Who are you?"

"I'm Kovu." Kovu introduced.

"I'm Kiara." She said in a more of a romantic manner. "Tag!" Kiara then tapped Kovu and began to pounce all around him before doing it again.

Kovu had no idea what Kiara was doing so he asked, "What are you doing?"

"I tag, you run." She replied so Kovu decided to jump into a defensive position and growled when all of a sudden, a shadow casted over him and a roar was emitted. Afterwards, a lioness jumped out did the exact same thing. The two adults were talking with each other while Kiara and Kovu just sat there in fear when all of a sudden, Kovu was pushed towards the male lion. He cowered in fear as he stared into his eyes before turning around and picking Kiara up by the scruff.

Kovu finished his story as Vitani and Nala looked at him. "So that's why mother was mad at you and Nuka. You left and made friends with Kiara." Kovu sheepishly nodded. What they both didn't notice was that Kiara, Kopa were now here with them. 

"Mum? Kovu? Vitani" Kiara questioned as Kopa walked up besides her. "What is happening?"

Nala walked up to them and began to explain what has happened and also about what happened with Kovu. Kiara already knew what happened back then but Kopa didn't so Kiara gave him a brief summary.

Nala looked over towards Vitani as a sign for her to tell everyone her story.

Young Vitani was strolling through the Pridelands on her own. There was no other animals around when suddenly, a lion came tumbling out from the bushes. Vitani immediately jumped into a defensive position and the other lion did the same. The two of them  glared at each other before dropping their defence. The cub walked up to her and in an energetic way, introduced himself. "Hi there. I'm Kopa, what's your name?" Vitani was reluctant at first but eventually decided to tell him anyways.

"I-I'm Vitani. Do you wanna play?" She eagerly announced. Kopa agreed and eventually they both began to play. This spanned for many months until now.

Kopa arrived at the cliffs at the usual time and began to wait for Vitani to come but what he failed to notice was that there was something in the bush. Kopa strolled along side of the cliff when all of a sudden, a lioness lunged towards him. Kopa tried to run away but unfortunately, he was too slow and was pinned. "This is the day that Simba will suffer." The lioness told him. A surge of pain flooded through him just as he was thrown off the cliff. Vitani came out from her hiding spot while Simba and some of the other lionesses arrived at the scene.

"From this day forward, you and your followers are now banished from the Pridelands. If any of you return, your punishment will be death." Simba told Zira just as she picked Vitani up.

Vitani finished up her story just as Taka arrived. Despite his old age, he was still able to walk around with ease but his speed and agility were poor. "Hi there Nala, nice to see you again." Nala greeted him back as well as Kiara and Kopa but Kovu and Vitani were clueless. Nala noticed that Kovu and Vitani had no idea who the lion was so she introduced them to Taka.

"Kovu, Vitani, this is Taka. Also known as Scar." Vitani and Kovu just stared at Taka for a while.
