Return of the Lost

Chapter 13 - Taka and Mheetu

Taka and his brother Mufasa both followed their father to the top of Priderock so they could enjoy the sunrise like normal but today was different. Taka followed Ahadi and Mufasa but when Ahadi noticed Taka behind, he yelled at him and told Taka to go and do something else since Mufasa was becoming king and there were lots of work that has to be done so Taka decided to go to his lion guard.

"Taka, hey. Where have you been? I thought you said that we would be starting patrol today." One of the lions reminded him. Taka sighed as he told his guard to split up and roar if anything happens. The guard then went off in their own separate ways so they could patrol the Pridelands.

In the gorge, Taka was strolling through when he heard a strange noise. A lion with a scar over one  of his eye came out from around a corner. Taka was worried that the lion was here to destroy Priderock but he did nothing to him. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" The lion decided to remain quiet as he walked away. Taka followed behind.

The walk through the gorge was quite relaxing without anyone else interrupting the silence when the lion in front halted.

"So Taka, I know how it feels to be neglected." The lion turned towards Taka and glared at him. Taka on the other hand was feeling a bit anxious with the current situation so he decided to take off when all of a sudden, he felt something bite his eye. The pain was unbearable and he couldn't control his actions.

It took some time for the pain to disappear but eventually, he was feeling perfectly fine but a little different. Now there was a snake next to the lion. Taka gave off a grin like he knew what he had to do.

A sound was heard from behind and the lion as well as the snake took used the remaining time as an advantage to leave before they were caught. "Taka! There you are." One of the approaching lions announced. "Come on, we've got to go back now before the sun sets." Taka, felling a bit annoyed about having to go back thought that it would be a good idea to over throw the king but that turned into a massive argument which resulted in Taka ending up roaring his lion guard away which ended it right there and then.

Mheetu and Nala were young teens playing  in the Pridelands. Years have passed by since Simba and Mufasa's death as well as Scar and the hyenas moving into the Pridelands. The food supplies have been slowly dropping and the animals were now fleeing in order to save themselves. All the other cubs were with their mothers which left the two to be alone. "Son Nala," Mheetu began, "What do you want to do?" Nala could tell that he either wanted to play or go out on an adventure somewhere.

Nala thought about it and then made up her mind. "Let's go on an adventure." as she considered that there was nothing to play. The two then began to plan where to go considering that they have both explored the whole Pridelands.

The Pridelands were just a barren piece of land with no life thriving on it. Mheetu went ahead of Nala but he didn't pay attention to Nala randomly stopping in her tracks. By the time he looked, it was too late. Mheetu felt pain surge throughout his body as he felt a paw striking on top of him. Nala attempted to run away but she was stopped by hyenas.

Back at Priderock, Sarafina became more and more worried for her children. She hasn't seen them since she left the cave. Cackles were heard in the distance as Sarafina turned her head to see Nala return back. Her head was down which meant that something happened. "Nala, where's Mheetu?" Sarafina questioned as Nala looked out in the direction she came from.

A zebra and a hippo were sneaking out the gorge and they noticed something in the distance. The closer they approached the thing the more recognisable the figure was so the hippo picked up the thing and walked with the zebra out from the Pridelands.
