Your POV

Today was the day. Today was the beginning of the spring preliminaries. All we had to do was win two matches in order to advance to the tournament in October. I didn't catch a wink of sleep last night from over worrying. It was also weird not sharing a room with Kiyoko and Yachi anymore. In a way I felt kind of lonely.

We had just arrived at the venue. From the look on the boys faces it was clear that I wasn't the only one who was nervous. We entered the balcony area first to get a better look at the arena. I could hear cheering and chants echoing around the hall. Huh it's sort of like a gala I realised. When I turned away from the balcony I saw Hinata's expression. He looked pale and lifeless. He was holding his stomach as if he was about to throw up.

"Sho are you feeling alright ?" I asked in concern.

"Yeah I'm fine, I puked on the way here so I feel better now." he insisted.

"Of course you'd feel sick after eating all those pork bowls for breakfast." Tsukki provoked. The thought of Hinata throwing up chunks of pork bowl made me feel rather queasy myself. I physically gagged as if I was going to be sick. Yamaguchi appeared to be experiencing the same nausea that I was.

"I'd like to point out that Hinata didn't throw up on anyone's crotch this time around. He's growing up so fast." Tanaka joked.

"Careful Tanaka you don't want to jinx yourself, Sho looks like he's gonna spew any minute now." I pointed out and with that Hinata ran off to the bathroom. The other boys headed off to the get changed. A few minutes later we gathered at the gym entrance. The match before us had just finished up.

"Let's go" Daichi declared.

"YEAHHHH" we cheered. Everyone was pumped to start. Our first match was against Ohgi Minami, who had just won with straight sets their first game. I was a little upset that Yachi wasn't allowed on the bench with us but there was a rule that only one manager per team could stay court side. She'd have to cheer from the balcony above. The referee blew the whistle indicating that the match was about to start. A familiar rush of adrenaline surged through my veins. But why ? It's not like i was the one playing.

Asahi kicked the game off with a service ace. Yes this is exactly what we needed to boost moral from that start I thought. We were hitting spike after spike after spike. Everyone seemed more alert too. Daichi noticed that one of the Ohgi players changed to a feint at the last second. He managed to quickly adjust his positioning to receive the ball. Even Tsukki looked like he was getting into it. We took the first set with ease. I helped Kiyoko hand out the water bottles to the boys during the break since Yachi wasn't there to. That's when one of the Ohgi players yelled out of nowhere "We're going to beat Karasuno, We're gonna get through the prelims and We're going to defeat Shiratorizawa." He declared. He sounds exactly like Hinata I chuckled to myself.

"Did ya hear that boys, the fights not over yet." I chimed in attempt to light a fire under their assess. It worked like a charm.

"WE'RE GOING TO END YOU." Tanaka threatened them. I couldn't help but giggle at him. We started the second set off strong as well. We got all the way up to a ten point lead, only two more points and we'd win. Kageyama was up to serve. I knew he'd nail it since he had one of the sharpest serves on the team. He threw the ball up before jumping and spiking it with all his might. The Ohgi Minami Libero tried to dig the ball up but it was too powerful. It bounced uncontrollably off his arm. We were now at match point. Kageyama was up to serve again. He replicated the same serve as before. The Libero managed to receive it but the ball was flying out of bounds. They could make it if they ran I thought. However no one budged, it was as if they were stuck in mud. I know I'm on the Karasuno team but part of me wanted to yell at Ohgi Minami to not give up. If there's one thing I've learned since joining the club is that it isn't over until the ball touches the floor. Suddenly out of nowhere the Ohgi player who had screamed earlier sprinted for the ball. Something must have clicked inside him. He dove straight into a cooler box and stack of water bottles but that didn't matter for he had kept the ball in play.
