Being back from regionals meant that I could help coach the Karasuno boys once more. They trained day and night, progressively improving with each practice. It was heartwarming to watch. Time seemed to fly by, somehow it was already the end of October which meant  qualifiers began tomorrow. For once in my life luck appeared to be on my side. The swimming nationals began on the 28th of October while the last day of the qualifiers were on the 27th. I don't know what i would have done if they had overlapped.

~the next day~

Today was the day the boys had been working so hard towards. There was a lot riding on this qualifier, especially for the third years. This was their last shot to make it to nationals.

"We're here, back at the Sendai City Gym again. Time to get our revenge." Hinata declared. It was obviously not their first rodeo here ! The determination and vengeance emanating off these boys was insane. All of a sudden Hinata took off sprinting towards the gym. This aggravated Kageyama.

"Not fair you got a head start you Dumbass" Kageyama yelled as he chased after Hinata. Hinata ended up running straight into the back of another player. They boy he had ran into looked over his shoulder to see who the culprit was. Where have I seen that gelled back blonde spikey hair before I pondered. He pushed Hinata's head aside with one hand and waved at me with his other.

"Hey sweetheart, be sure to give me your number today" he broadcasted. Oh that's where I know him from I recollected. I awkwardly fumbled with my fingers not knowing how to respond. "She's so cute when she gets shy" he declared. This ignited a fire within Tanaka and Noya. I swear I saw their eyes glow red as if they were some sort of demonic creatures. They sprinted towards the boy and leapt into the air so as to pounce on him however a girl wearing the same yellow tracksuit as the boy pushed him out of the way.

"Stop it" she told him off. "I'm so sorry about that" she sincerely apologised. Tanaka and Noya froze in mid air. I did a double take. Was I seeing this right ?

"Hey they're stopped in mid-air. That's awesome" Yamaguchi spoke up beside me. Thank god I wasn't the only one seeing this.

"Trust Noya and Tanaka to find a way to defy the laws of gravity." I said in astonishment.

"Well see you around Karasuno" the boy turned to head inside. I read the writing on the back of his jacket. Sewn on the back was 'Johzenji volleyball club'. No way they're our first opponents I realised. It's crazy to think out of the sixteen teams here today that only one can represent the Miyagi prefecture at nationals. Nonetheless I had a gut feeling that that team was going to be Karasuno.

We made our way inside the building. Hinata announced that he needed to use the bathroom. I also needed to go so I said that I'd tag along with him. As we walked to the restrooms I noticed that Hinata appeared to be on edge. Why is nervous about going to the bathroom ? I wondered. I decided it was best not to ask incase it was something personal. The male and female toilets were opposite one another. The two of us split up, I veered off to the left while Hinata went right. I wasn't in there for very long but I was expecting that Hinata would be already waiting for me outside. As I stepped out into the hallway there was a large crowd gathered beside the male toilets. What on Earth is going on i wondered. I pushed past the crowd to see Hinata caged inside four other volleyball players who were much taller than him. If this was the wild Hinata would have been the prey of the four beasts.

"Whoever we play, I won't lose" muttered a tall boy with dark olive brown hair and matching olive eyes before turning to leave. He had a stern and aloof expression on his face. The other tall boy with bleach white hair and no eyebrows bowed to Hinata before walking away. He never spoke a word. I approached Hinata to check that he alright but also to ensure that he wasn't causing any trouble.
