they were finally back in korea.

lucas stretched his arms out and smiled, breathing in the korean air. he spun in circles and giggled, causing keni to smile at the child-like boy. he noticed her looking at gestured for her to do the same as him.

"come on keni, it's fun!" he exclaimed and she also extended her arms out, spinning in a much slower and much less energetic circle.

lucas shook his head, "faster!" he commanded and keni obliged, a laugh escaping out of her mouth.

lucas clapped, "see! i told you it was fun."

keni just nodded and headed towards the car, afraid that lucas was going to make her embarrass herself again in the middle of a crowded airport. she handed over her luggage which was filled with lucas's clothes to kun.

kun hugged the girl, "never disappear again," he fretted and she chuckled at him.

"yes mom," she said only to earn a glare.

"i am not your mom," kun protested.

winwin came up from behind, "well you sure act like it."

"don't even start, you and lucas are in big trouble for leaving like that. we thought you guys got kidnapped or something!" kun said.

lucas giggled again, "what's the punishment?" he asked cheekily.

kun folded his arms, "you are grounded."

keni raised an eyebrow, "they are like fully grown men? you're grounding them?"

kun nodded and shoved them all into the backseat together, "no one gets front seat privileges today."

kun looked through the files that they had brought back from china. he sat back in silence for a while before clicking through a few databases on his computer. his screens were switching and changing so fast that keni, lucas, and winwin couldn't even tell what was going on. they sat in a line on the floor by the files and stared blankly at the computer screens, waiting for kun to speak.

kun stopped clicking and it was a while before he turned to face them all.

it was a painfully slow pause before he even spoke, "keni, are you sure you don't remember anything?"

keni gave him a look, "well if i remembered anything i wouldn't have to go to china would i?"

kun raised his hands in defense, "the current president of china had a child with a prostitute exactly 21 years ago. how old are you?"

keni counted on her fingers, "21. why do i care about the president though?"

"keni. i think you are that child."

time had stopped. winwin and lucas turned to stare at keni while she stared at kun blankly. she opened and closed her mouth a few times before she could finally find her voice, "well you made that so anticlimactic," she attempted to joke but her voice was shaky.

kun sighed, pointing to his screen, "this is the record of the president transferring a shit ton of money to your mother's bank account. that same day, you were dropped off at the orphanage."

keni massaged her temples, she was surprisingly taking it very well, "then why does the orphanage have so many files on me?"

"your mother kept tabs on you. i don't know what her motive was though," kun explained and shook his head, "i want to kill them all."

lucas grabbed keni's hand, causing her to focus her attention on him, "are you okay?" he asked.

keni laughed joylessly, "why would be sad over a family that threw me away? it is their loss," she said and flipped her hair, "it's their turn to suffer."

winwin cast the girl a worried look, concerned over what she had planned in mind.
