- So, how many cars have you gone through? - Lucy got comfortable in the garage.
- Well, - Howard cleaned his glasses, - as a crew, we bought a Porsche 911, the GT one I forgot what it's called. After about five years of using the Porsche, it blew up. After it blew up we had thoughts to just quit, but deep down inside we knew we could never do it. We were about to be broke, but some friend racers gave us a hand and we got a choice between a Maserati MC12 or Lamborghini Murcielago. The Maserati was miles better, but it wasn't in our budget so we got the Murcielago.
Howard went to the other side of the garage and pour two glasses of juice.
- So, we got a lot of money with the Murcielago, but it was becoming very old, so in 2015 we switched the car to Nelly. It was good because we've worked with a Lamborghini before so it was easier.
- Got it. We're racing soon, any tips? - Lucy picked up the glass.
- Depends on how you're planning to race. It's an endurance race of three hours. Lucy, I know you like to play aggressive, but you're driving first and your driving is gonna break our car if you play aggressive.
- Well I won't drive slowly.
- Just listen to Nelly, feel her. You've been doing that more and more every day, so that's good. Just don't crash.
- Don't worry, I won't. If you don't mind me asking, how many times did Carla actually win?
- Come. - Howard lead Lucy into the main office next to the garage.
The room was full of diplomas, pictures, trophies, and other memorabilia.
- This is where we keep every single award and every memorable moment. See those trophies? - Howard started pointing, - Carla, Carla, Carla, that's Carla, that's also Carla, that one is Keith actually, but most of this is Carla.
- This is incredible. - Lucy was walking around the room.
- Take a look at this. She customized them herself.
There was a pair of gloves in a picture frame. The black racing gloves had "Carla" written on one wrist and "Morales" on the other.
- She used to put her fists together and it would say "Carla Morales" obviously.
- Was Morales her last name?
- Yep. - Howard leaned against the table. - You should go home, it's getting late, Scotty isn't gonna let you inside.
- Yeah, you're right, - Lucy got her stuff, - why do I have to call him Marshall, while you call him Scotty?
Howard chuckled and closed the door without answering. Walking home at night Lucy noticed the car park was full of cars...Very familiar cars.
