Home, but not for everyone

- Ohio is next and if you want to win you're going to give it your all and a little bit more. - Marshall was talking to Lucy.

- Elliot?

- Exactly, it's his home track.

- Who knows, maybe he'll get nervous around people and mess up. Anything can still happen, so his victory isn't decided yet. - Connor joined.

A couple of weeks later Marshall and Lucy were chatting in Ohio after the placement race.

- What's your plan for tomorrow? - Marshal asked.

- Drive and win, I guess. There's a lot of videos of Elliot on this track and I've been trying to analyze them to find any mistakes in his driving.

- How many have you found?

- I don't know, he breaks too early on the third corner but that's about it.

- There's one more thing. This is his home, he will feel extremely comfortable. We can only hope he'll get too comfortable. If he does, he's bound to do something stupid.

- I'll do my best, I'm starting behind him yesterday.

- Well, behind him and Xander.

They were sitting alone across a small table outside.  People were constantly walking by, but it didn't bother them one bit.

Marshall's phone started ringing, he answered and had a quick chat.

- Marshall, listening...No, I'm in Ohio.

As he put down the phone, Lucy noticed his wallpaper was a picture of them together.

- What's your wallpaper? - She asked.

- Doesn't matter, does it?

- Oh come on, tell me.

- ...It's us in Texas, what about it?

- Nothing, I was just wondering. So, three races left, huh?

- Yep, and tomorrow is a big one, you should sleep. - He stood up and went away.

Lucy sat at the table for a little bit more before heading inside to sleep. She woke up in the morning and got to the track. Most fans were rooting for Elliot, but that didn't surprise Lucy. It was a short race, she knew she had to take over and win extremely quickly.

Elliot took an early lead, while Lucy tried catching him throughout the first quarter. The only leads Lucy had was exiting the pits since Elliot's crew had lost a wheel. Her happiness didn't last long, the British driver overtook her like she was parked. Not only that, Xander took over Lucy last second, so she finished extremely disappointed.

- Gosh, that sucked. - Lucy was mad.

- Howard, can she still win?

- Of course. She'll have to push through.

- How hard?

- She needs to win twice and she'll be golden.

- Darn, that's quite the push. Do you think you can do it? - Marshall asked.

- Of course, I know what I need to work on. When is the next race?

- Exactly one month in Texas again, just a different track. Everyone will be equal there.

Lucy was considering her choices, watching Elliot celebrate from afar. She pushed herself harder for Texas to lock her place between the best.

In Texas, Lucy placed first, she felt prepared and ready. The racer was calculating how many points she would need to win and was pretty pleased with the results.

- Don't sweat too much about it, you can do it. - Connor joined Lucy in her room.

- I know I can, I will do it.

- Fun fact, houses here are really cheap.

- Name one thing to do here. - Lucy chuckled.

- Fair point I guess. So, you're planning to become the champion?

- That's the plan. - Lucy laid down on her bed.

- You know, you have a little Scotty in you.

- do I now?

- Yeah, you have that zest, that passion he had...A while ago.

- When did he lose it?

 - Well you know, it was just one thing after another. The first hit was Ken Miles dying, not long after Jim Clark died, but those deaths didn't really affect them. Carla really killed him inside. To be completely honest, I think he's slowly getting it all back.

- I don't know, sometimes it feels like no matter how good I do, he isn't satisfied.

- That's his fault, not yours, he's comparing you to the best racer he's ever seen.

- Why do you call him Scotty? I want to call him Scotty too.

- Well it's much simpler than you think - his full name is Scott Marshall. You're simply calling him by his last name. I don't know, he's weird, but he gets stuff done...No, I'm joking, he's a good friend.

- I guess I can believe that.
