.............

Winter break rolled around pretty quickly and before I knew it, everyone had left the school to spend the holidays with their families. Of course, I had nowhere to go so I ended up spending winter break practically alone in the Slytherin house. Even Harry went back to spend Christmas with the Weasleys. Ginny had offered but she and I both knew the circumstances.

Terence offered to stay for the break or invite me home to visit his family, even stay over. I declined immediately, not knowing how his folks would react after learning that I only remembered about half of my life. Plus Dumbledore had strictly instructed me that I was not allowed to leave the safety of Hogwarts, and I honestly felt safe here. I had not gained any more memories except for some bits and pieces of moments I experienced before I attended Hogwarts at the age of 11. I was confused and disheartened. I thought I would have remembered a lot by now, but I still did not even recall anything past stepping on the Hogwarts Express when I was 11 years old.

The only presents I had received for Christmas the day after the Yule Ball were from Ginny, Hermione, and Terence. Ginny had gifted me the choker that I had borrowed from her for the Yule Ball, as she had known how much I loved it. Hermione had presented me with some warm holiday winter sets of gifts from the muggle world. She had given me warm pajamas, socks, and a small quilt that I can cuddle up to over the holidays. I was quite overjoyed at the large gift. But I was also sad as I had not known they would even be sending me gifts. I didn't even have time to send something back in return as they had sent the gifts and left the school for break before I could even notice.

And finally, immediately before leaving, Terence had presented me with a magical pendant. It was small and the color of emerald.

"Happy Christmas, Terra."

"It's beautiful." I smiled as he placed it around my neck.

"Touch it and say my name."

I did as told and noticed the emerald pendant glow up around my neck. A grin formed on his lips as he reached into his shirt and pulled out a similar looking pendant that was glowing bright green. I gasped with amazement.

"Wow..." I trailed off feeling speechless as I stared at it.

I didn't deserve this. I didn't even have a gift for him myself, I felt like a horrible person. But I felt even more bad about doing something that I should have done awhile ago. I know Terence was my friend, but I couldn't stay in a relationship that meant I would be left alone. It appeared everyone in my life ended up leaving anyways.

I glanced up at Terence as he walked over to me to place a longing kiss on my lips. The moment he walked closer, I backed away into the chair of the nearly empty common room. He furrowed his eyebrows with confusion.

I couldn't do this. I couldn't grow more attached than I already was.

I slowly reached up and removed the beautiful pendant from my neck. I clasped it back together and rolled it up neatly in my palm.

"You...don't like it?" he asked with a cock of his head. "Is it too much? I knew I should have gone with something more simple for your taste." I shook my head no as I walked over and placed the pendant back in his palm then closed his fist over it. "If this about you not getting me a gift, you know I don't care right?" He chuckled nervously.

"Terence," I sighed as hurt filled my insides. For a moment I felt like Draco Malfoy, the way he had so easily broken it off with Pansy on the night of the Yule Ball. "What's gonna happen after you leave Hogwarts?"
