"I guess, lucky fer you, you'll be one of the first students back in that castle soon. I'll be on my way to pick up the First Years from the station."

"Oh right, I forgot everyone comes from the Hogwarts Express. That's where I first..." I trailed off earning a small smile from Hagrid. "...woke up."

I couldn't forget my ride to Hogwarts, sitting clueless in the same compartment as Harry, Ron, and Hermione, seeing the Dementor, the live chocolate frogs. I thought I was living a magical nightmare.

"All packed?" Hagrid asked.

I nodded my head. "All packed and excited to get first pick for the dormitories." I would no longer be sharing an overcrowded room with 4 other girls. Ambretta and I were going to dorm together, just the two of us. It was just like how we had planned. She was only one of the few people in Slytherin that I was absolutely over-excited to see. Passing letters over the summer was definitely not enough.

"Dormitories," Hagrid repeated while mocking my American accent with a chuckle. "That's quite exciting. I'll be on my way now. Professor McGonagall will allow you inside."

"Bye Hagrid," I mumbled while rushing over and throwing my arms around his wide frame.

"Terr, you'll see me in about an hour." He laughed as he patted my back but there were tears in his eyes.

I shook my head. "Thank you for letting me stay with you over the summer. I don't know how to repay you." I felt the tears prick my own eyes as well. I blinked them away, telling myself that I had promised myself not to cry at all today. I hated the way I couldn't control my own emotions sometimes.

"Oh, stop." Hagrid's voice quivered. "Yer one of the very few students of Slytherin that I enjoy talking to. It was my pleasure to have ya keep me and Fang company this entire summer," he said with a whisper as if the Slytherin house was listening to our conversation right now. He sniffled as I grinned at his words then pulled away.

"Don't worry, Hagrid," I said as we both headed for the door. "I'll visit your place so often that it'll be like I never left."

...........

"Bloody hell," said a familiar female voice. I spun around excitedly as my eyes widened at my best friend who gazed about our room.

"Ambretta!" I squealed as I ran towards her. She dropped her bags and ran towards me with equal the amount of speed. We wrapped our arms around each other until I suddenly pulled away. "Oh my God! Your hair! And you're so tan!" I gasped while grabbing the strands of her highlights.

Ambretta flipped a few pieces of hair over her shoulder. "Do you like it?" she smirked.

"Hell, I love it!"

There were bright strands of red streaks mixed in with her black hair. They were in neat waves, bouncing slightly with each turn of her head. It suited her so perfectly that I was practically jealous. I also noticed she had grown a little over the summer. She now stood at a height that was slightly taller than me.
