Angelica, Empty Lecture Room, Base Nidus, 1:15 pm
"You what?"
Angelica had never seen Kage so close to loosing it, if it wasn't under the current circumstances, she'd be laughing.
Kage had locked them all in an abandoned lecture room. He was leaning against the desk with his arms crossed and his grey wings puffed up in barley checked in anger. Eva had her head propped up on her hands but was already asleep in the second row, Lyn was perched next to Angelica on the front row of tables. Nathan was somewhere behind them, most likely gazing out the window and Jackson was sitting on the floor near Kage. Jasper stood rigid in front of the harpy eagle, solid like stone.
"Wait, back it up again. I just . . . gotta make sure I have this right," Angelica wasn't as surprised as she should have been, Jasper has already pulled off incomprehensible shenanigans, this was just the cherry on top.
Jasper pulled in a shaky breath and restarted his story, "So, you all know that I've been sneaking out every night to go to the Outer City. For the past three weeks I've been getting in some very heated fights with, who at first I thought was a pigeon, is actually the Prince of Avinetta. And last night I may have lightly stabbed him in the face."
Angelica could almost hear the cogs ticking in Kage's brain as he tried to come to terms with Jaspers confession. Her will power to not laugh at Kage's expression was phenomenal.
"You stabbed the Prince? In the face?" Kage's jaw was so tense Angelica was waiting for it to shatter.
"How on earth did you think he was a pigeon?" Lyn was dumbfounded by Jasper's poor eyesight, "How badly do you mess up a Peregrin Falcon with a pigeon?"
"It was at night and it's dark! And it was more of scratch than a stab, like, he's got a scar on his cheek. But it's his fault!" Jasper had his small wings puffed up, Angelica thought he looked cute this flustered.
"How is it the Princes' fault? You stabbed him!" Kage was almost on the end of his tether.
"Well, for starters, he literally singles me out to fight, I just wanted to look at stuff in the Outer City. And he made me fall on my wing, so he had it coming," Jasper tried to defend himself.
"Holy Wings of the Phoenix I am so fired for this," Kage ran his hands through his thick storm grey hair, while the topside of his wings were black, his hair was storm grey.
They sat there in silence. Kage had his head in his hands and was muttering to himself. The badges and cords decorating his formal uniform made the others look plain. He had been in the army for almost a decade, starting in the Orphan Squads, just like the rest of them.
"Jasper," Kage looked back up.
"Yes, sir," Angelica was surprised, Jasper never addressed Kage formally, ever.
"You said Prince Kai covered his face with a mask, did you cover yours?" Kage questioned.
"No, sir," Jasper confessed, Kage groaned.
Lyn started to laugh, "This has got to be the funniest thing you've done Feddel, you've really out dumbed yourself this time."
Jasper rounded on her, a scowl crawling onto his face, "What was that, Cor?"
"Well, for starters, Prince Kai knows your face, so the second he sees you here, he'll probably do something to out you. And when the Queen finds out that some little sparrow punk has put a scar on her chicks face, you'll be executed for treason!" Lyn explained dramatically, throwing her arms out.
