Jasper, Miss Noc's Fabric Shop, Outer City, 6:52 pm
If Jackson so much as breathes in my direction, I'm going to punch him. Jasper was so mad at his twin, for multiple reasons, Nathan too.
He was mad when Jackson got twitchy about Miss Noc knowing all of their names. Jasper was mad when Jackson appeared from the dressing room wearing the same thing as him, only the jacket was different. Jasper was mad when Jackson picked up the knife next to him and started to cut vegetables. Now Jasper was not only mad at Jackson, but also at Nathan for chatting with the Prince about pictures.
They were synchronised in their cutting, it made Jaspers blood boil. Eva had come down after a few hours, Lyn came down first and avoided everyones eyes. Angelica had pulled Eva over to the couch where they were looking at Miss Nocs photographs. Jasper remembered Miss Noc telling him all about her adventures as Doctor Funer stitched up his arm.
Nathan and Kai came back from their fitting, all in new clothes. Jasper did a double take on Nathan and almost sliced his own finger off in the process. He cursed himself and stayed focused on the celery he was cutting. Jasper may have used unnecessary force with the vegetables, but he knew if he wasn't focusing on slicing the carrots he would slice his twins wings.
Jasper almost flinched when Jackson spoke. "I'm impressed."
"Don't," Jasper said, he didn't want to hear what Jackson had to say.
"Your words not mine," Jackson replied. They fell into silence.
Miss Noc bundled over to them, smiling brightly as she shooed them out of the kitchen. "Go and sit down boys, I'll finish this up."
Jasper smiled and washed his hands by the basin, Jackson followed suit. They sat down on the couches and were immediately dragged into the conversation on debating the best picture. Jasper was sandwiched between Jackson and Angelica on the plush leather, an uneasy feeling in his gut.
The conversation topics split and drifted as Miss Noc came over with more tea. Jasper kept cursing himself internally as he kept rising to Jacksons bait and bickering with him. Jasper also cursed himself every time he snuck a glance at Nathan. His insides turned cold when he heard Nathan laugh at something that Prince Kai said.
Bastard Princey, we should have left him at the Palace. Jasper tried to clear his mind and focus on the photographs in front of him. Jasper noted the way they all fell silent each time Doctor Funer walked in, he sent her a supporting smile each time.
Jasper was on Angelicas side for the argument of clouds. He thought they looked better in daylight but specifically at dusk. Lyn backed him up. Nathan, Eva and Jackson were on the opposite side.
"Yeah but if you think about it, above the cloud line during the day, you can see the way they move and how fluffy they are," Angelica said.
"Nope, clouds in moonlight are better, and aren't as bright," Nathan said, sipping his tea.
"But that's the point! Clouds are supposed to be blinding, that's why they're pretty during the day!" Lyn had her hands up, clearly enjoying the argument.
"But they hurt your eyes though," Eva said.
"Get sunglasses," Lyn said, picking up her mug.
"Princey, what's your verdict," Jackson said, turning the attention to him.
"I'm sorry?" Kai mumbled.
"Whenever we argue, it's always even because Kage never takes sides, so now you're the deciding vote," Lyn explained. "So, are clouds better during the day or during the night?"
