It was a quiet, peaceful morning on the faraway planet of Kinmoku, yet Seiya Kou didn't know what the hell she was doing with her life.
"Fighter Star Power! Make...UP!" In a flash, her civilian form, groggy-eyed and hair disheveled, was replaced by the sailor guardian form she took on the majority of the time. Stifling a yawn, Sailor Star Fighter stepped out of her bedroom only to bump right into Princess Kakyuu.
"P-Princess!" Fighter's blue eyes widened. "I apologize," she said with a bow.
Princess Kakyuu smiled. Her eyes were kind. "It's alright. Come now, the others are waiting for you."
"Yes." Fighter continued down the hall.
Everything was supposed to feel normal again.
The Starlights had returned to Kinmoku. Princess Kakyuu was safe. Their planet was rebuilding. Healer and Maker had settled back into their duties as if Earth had been nothing more than a temporary dream.
Fighter wished she could do the same.
Almost a year had passed since they left, but Earth still followed her: the memory of a laugh, a flash of blue eyes, the ache that came whenever she remembered Sailor Moon turning back toward the life that had always been waiting for her.
Usagi had Mamoru. Seiya had known that from the beginning.
Still, knowing something did not make missing her any easier.
Healer was sitting lazily at the table picking at breakfast when Fighter entered the dining room. The ceilings were tall and the hallways seemed to stretch on and on into an intricate labyrinth. Taiki liked the architecture of their palace. To Seiya, it only made her feel even more alone.
Healer peered over at her. "You look tired."
"Insomnia."
Healer shrugged. "Sure."
Fighter looked across the table at Healer, who was raising a glass to her lips as if this were any other morning. She wished she knew how to do that.
"What?" Healer demanded. "Is there something on my face?"
"No." Fighter blinked, realizing she'd been staring. "Sorry. I just spaced out."
"You've been doing that a lot recently," Healer said, setting her glass down.
"Doing what?"
Healer gave her an exasperated look. "Spacing out."
"Sorry."
Healer watched her for a moment. "You're thinking about her again."
Fighter didn't answer.
"Seiya..."
"I know." Fighter's utensil shifted against her plate. "I know what you're going to say."
Healer sighed. "Then I won't say it."
Fighter looked down. "It's not just that. It's been so long since we've seen them. I keep wondering how they're doing. If any new enemies have appeared. If they're all right."
