chapter 7: New era's day

"are you blushing?" I said and smirked.

"no! I said and left him standing.

"hey don't leave me!" he said and ran towards me.

__few hours later__

Akeelah's pov

Few hours had passed. We played games and ate foods from the booths. I enjoyed every minute that I spent with Cyryll. Now were here at the field watching and listening to the school music band.

As I was watching the performance I couldn't help but notice that Cyryll's slipping his hands to mine.

"excuse me?" I said, staring at our hands.

"why?" he said and smirked.

"don't you like it?" he added. I shook my head for a reply.

"look Akeelah...I'm serious about what I said earlier, I really want to court you" he answered, letting go of my hands.

"are you sure about that?" I replied. Looking at his face.

"I already got hurt and I don't want it to happen again" I added. I never told anyone this before but I had a relationship with I guy when I was just in high school. I met him at the province where I used to stay but we broke up right after my dad married another woman. I decided to broke up with him, and why? Because I realized that we have no time for each other and at the time that I needed him the most he wasn't there, I was disappointed because I thought he could protect me but I was wrong. I just don't want to get hurt again but I think this is already the right time to give Cyryll a chance.

"of-course!" he answered while giving me a bright big smile"

__few hours later__

The event was over and I had a fun night with Cyryll. He made me feel that feeling I never had in years. Yes, I gave Cyryll the chance to court me. I don't know why but there is something in me that says give Cyryll a chance so I did!

As I sat on me bed I forgot something.

"shit! I forgot about Alice!" I thought to myself and grabbed my phone to call her.

"do you need anything?"

"gosh! where have you been?" I answered

"sorry I forgot to tell you. I was enjoying the fair also, I didn't wanted to be a third wheel between you and Cyryll and I met this guy named—"

"it's good that your alright, next time tell me were your going. Okay?" I answered.

"yes, miss president" she answered and chuckled softly.

"okay I have to go now bye..." I ended the call and went to bed.

__the next day__

Alice's pov

I'm in a fancy café today since Preston wanted me to meet him here for a date.

REWIND

I was looking around the field looking somewhere what to eat but I bumped into a guy.

"oh I'm sorry miss" the guy apologized to me.

"no it's oka— wait are you that guy who performed on the stage few hours ago?"

"yes that was me and wait are you one of the school officers? Btw I'm preston" he said.

"yes, I'm Alice. btw your performance was amazing" I answered, giving him a smile.

"thanks! You want to hang-out? It's my treat" he replied.

"sure why not"

"so what do you want to eat?" he asked.

"umm....maybe just fries, I had a huge meal before the fair" I answered.

"okay just wait right here I'm going to buy fries" he said and left. I sat on the bench scrolling trough my phone.

Preston looks like a nice guy. He also looks cute, not going to lie.

"here you go" Preston said giving me the fries and sat beside me.

"thanks" I said receiving the fries.

"are you closed with the president?" he asked.

"you mean Akeelah?" I answered.

"yeah that girl" he said

"you both look like sisters" he added and chuckled.

"but she has short hair and you have long and nice black hair" he added again and I just smiled from his compliment.

"thanks" I respond and smiled.

"I never really noticed you but now I get to know you, your really kind and quiet" he said looking at me scrolling trough my phone.

"I'm one of the quiet girls and I'm really shy, Akeelah just forced me join the election" I said as I took a piece from my fries.

"so that's why....your really pretty though" he said staring at me.

"all people say that coz my mom is MRS. Dela Cruz" I answered.

"wait she's your mom?....no wonder you look like him" he answered finishing his fries.

My mom is Athena Grace Dela Cruz, she is a model and really known in the school since she started her modeling career here from being the school's candidate for any modeling contest. That's why I'm forced to be enrolled in this school.

"hey Alice are you okay?" I snapped back to reality when Preston called my name.

"umm....I'm fine" I answered.

"well I'm sorry I have to go now but let's hang out this Saturday if your not busy"

"sure! I'm free"

"btw can I have your number?" he asked handing out his phone.

"sure" I said as I type my number on his phone.

"see you on Saturday bye!" he waved his hands and left.

PRESEANT

It's been few hours now but Preston is still not here so I decided to leave and just go to the park since I think he forgot about our date.

As I was walking on the street I realized I'm in front at Akeelah's house. So I decided to drop by, but I notice that there were two cars that means they have visitors.

"hey Akee-" my words were cut from what I saw. Preston? What is he doing here?
