chapter 6: fireworks

Akeelah's pov

I already went home, I'm still bothered about where could I find a source for the CCTV footage that will can be my evidence that Corey stole the money.

Gosh! I'm overthinking again.

__in the morning__

I wake up and the sun was hitting my face. I hurried and went downstairs to eat breakfast.

"hey sweetie are you alright?" Ella asked while giving me the cereal.

"I'm fine" I said calmly.

"sis don't worry about school to much" my Akira said while passing me out the milk.

"you should enjoy it!" Akira added.

"okay fine" I said as ate my cereal.

I went upstairs to take a bath and be ready to go to hell.

__at the school__

I walked trough the hallway and I noticed that I'm a bit woozy, I think I'm going to faint soon. As I was walking I didn't notice that I fainted and fell on the floor.

__few hours later__

I woke up at and I just saw the white light above. "am I dead?" I said while still staring at the light.

"shut up! Your not dead!" I heard Alice complain.

"what happened?" I asked while assisting myself to sit.

"I saw you fainted and I delivered you here at the clinic. The nurse said you fainted because of stress" she answered.

"you should not stress so much" she added and sat beside me.

"I don't want you to get sick, so you better not get stress anymore" she also added, putting her hands to my shoulders.

"okay madam!" I said giving her a bright smile.

"now hurry Cyryll is waiting for you at the locker area, he has the CCTV footage" she said as she smiled back.

"WHAT?!"

"just go he's waiting for you!" I said and smirked.

I went at the locker area as Alice told me to do. I saw Cyryll standing, holding a USB.

"oh Akeelah!" he shouted, walking to me.

"are you alright? Alice told me you fainted" he added.

"yeah...I-I'm fine" I said and gave him a reassuring smile.

"btw I have the CCTV footage" he said.

"how did you got it?!" I semi-shouted at him so no one would here us.

"it's a secret" he said and handed me out the USB but before I could even grab the USB he hid it under he's pocket.

"after you go out with me" I said, crossing he's arms.

"what?"

"I work hard to get this and your just going to take it without any return? Now that's not fair!" he said and smirked.

"okay fine I'll go out with you" I said giving him an annoyed face.

"okay so your going to be my date for the New Era's day...okay?" he answered.

"okay whatever...j-just give me the footage" I said and he gave me the USB and left.

Even though he is very annoying sometimes he is still a responsible person. I like him for being him and would admit I'm already falling for him.

I went to the principal's office because my prof still gave me time to rest and I took this chance to meet the principal.

"excuse me sir?" I asked politely and entered the room.

"what do you want?" the principal answered.

"uhmm...I-l want to report something to you sir" I said nervously.

"about what?" he answered glaring at me.

"it's about the reported chases of stealing lately sir" I said, handing him out the USB.

"it has the CCTV footage about the stealing chases sir and it turns out that Mr. Velasquez is the one stealing" I added.

"I can't believe this!" the principal responded as he open up the file from his computer.

"I guess the rumors are true about this boy. He has still not change at all, you see before he had transferred here he was expelled because of stealing. Don't worry miss Montefalco he will get called soon here at my office" he added and I just nodded

"for now you can go to your class but please do me a favor" the principal said.

" and what's that sir?" I responded.

"you have to make this a secret I don't want to ruin our school's reputation and the Velasquez corp. and I want to talk about this next week so we can't ruin the New Era's day" he said.

"sure sir" I answered and left the office.

__at the New Era's__

Today is the day!

The place is looking wonderful, the event I held in the field and the place was full of tents for games, food stands and load music.The program has already started few minutes ago but I'm still waiting for Alice and Cyryll, they are still not here.

"Akeelah!" Alice shouted while walking towards me.

"hey! Have you seen Cyryll?" I asked.

"no, I haven't seen him either but he told me yesterday to give this to you" she answered, giving me the paper bag. I took a peak and I saw a yellow hoodie.

"he told me you should wear it" she added.

"and why would I?" I asked sarcastically.

"coz you promise to be my date!" my eyes widen and I look behind me. Seeing Cyryll standing, holding a bouquet of flowers.

"okay I will leave you two to enjoy your day" Alice said and left.

Before I could even speak Cyryll pulled me.

"where are we going?" I asked, he still pulling me.

"I have a surprise for you" he said, not letting go of my hands.

"Wha--, wow!" my words cut off because of some fireworks exploding in the sky.

"this is amazing!" I added.

"you want to know a fact?" he asked, placing his hands on my shoulder.

"what?"

"fact you!" he laughed by his joke. He stopped laughing when I glared at him.

"just kidding....it's when two couples watch a fireworks display they are destined for each other" he said, giving me a big smile.

" we are not even couples!" I said and smirked .

"then I will court you" my eyes widen when he said that. Because of his sweet words, it makes my heart flutter. I can't believe he's saying these things to me. I'm speechless.
