Year 1997
~Jorel~I'm not that kind of guy who is energetic and social. I'm more of a reserved kid. For some reason I had a feeling that other teens would see me as a boring, then ignore like I had never came to learn at the LA High.
My best friends since pre-school, George Ragan and Jordon Terrell weren't going to show up until next week. So of course, I had to be a f*cking loner for a whole f*cking week. That was great. The friends that told me to go to this specific high we're going to make me go to it the first day alone. Now, that's friendship there.
Looking up at the dark ceiling of my room, thoughts kept running through my head about the day that was coming. My alarm was set for 7:00 AM, right now the time read 6:30 AM. Mom was heard from the kitchen, slamming the cabinet doors or turning the sink on and washing the dishes. Could she be any louder? Spring was in the shower, I could hear the water beating and running through the pipes. She was going to be in 6th grade this year. Spring was my beautiful little sister. She looked so much like Mom.
I peered over at the crack under my wooden door where a faint light peaked in. My MisFits poster was plastered on the door unevenly, giving my room a messy characteristic. The shower came to a halt, and soon there were light footsteps coming down the hall. I flopped around in bed like a fish out of water, closed my eyes acting like I was asleep. Eventually, no one came to swing my door open and bug the crap out of me. I sighed deeply.
A couple minutes passed. The alarm went off which squawked like a dying robotic parrot. The door swung open, and my sister skipped in, then jumped on my stomach.
"Fuuu--!!" I grunted, her head snapped over to me, making eye-contact with me.
"Mom doesn't want to you to say cuss words, you know that right Jo?" Spring sat there like an anchor on my stomach.
"I didn't say any cuss words." I snap with my smart-ass-y tone. No one ever liked that voice. It always made them break.
"Oh, shut up," Spring snapped back, patting my cheek before getting up. "I hear you all the time."
She always patted my cheek. It couldn't have been resistible for her, or our mom. They always touches my cheeks. It was like a tradition to sit there and either pat my cheek or pinch.
"I'm in High school now, who cares?" I sit up with a grunt, then I walk to my closet, taking out a white AC/DC band Tee before walking over to my pants drawer and taking out black tight jeans.
"Whatever." Her high-pitch voice carried around my room before she exited.
I threw my clothes on in the complete darkness of the room. I put my Nike shoes on afterward, and walked out of my room. The footsteps of mine were light stomps on the floorboards.
I managed to carry myself into the bathroom and comb my hair out. My reflection in the Mirror shown above the sink. I was a small fella with a stocky build, never really thought of it. Johnny had to be half of a foot taller than me at least. But then again, he was a Junior and I was a Freshman.. Jordon was about two inches shorter than I, and he was a year older.
Traveling to the kitchen, a sweet aroma of pancakes filled my nose. My mom was making pancakes. I smiled widely at her as I passed by her near the stove before sitting down at the dinner table. Ma never did this in the morning. It was always about go, go, go for her in the morning, mostly because she had to work and she had to drop us off at school first.
"I can't wait until you get a car, Jorel," She quietly said as she flipped a pancake. "Then you can take your sis to school and drive it to the High for yourself."
