Digimon Adventure 02

The Gate Opens

We stood on the Highton View Terrance, waiting for the children Oikawa had brainwashed to arrive.

This would be our last chance to stop Oikawa's plan, and we had to do it right.

"Look, there's one of them now." Kari said snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up and saw a little boy around Genki's age stand by the railing. As more people passed by us, more and more children appeared from out of nowhere.

"They seem to be waiting for something." Cody pointed out.

"Do you think they're waiting for Oikawa?" Kari asked.

"I wonder if that's why they're all here." Yolei wondered aloud.

"No doubt about it, they're here for Oikawa." I said.

"How do you know that, Raya?" Kimiko asked.

"Oikawa has had all of these kids wrapped around his slimy pale finger. It's like Stockholm Syndrome, except the kids don't know that they're captives. They trust everything he says without question, in hopes that they'll get what they want as well."

"That makes sense." Cody said, "Maybe this will finally be our chance to catch him."

"Now, wait a minute guys. Let's not rush into anything." Matt said concerned and cautious.

"But why are they at Highton View Terrance?" Davis asked.

"A gate to the digital world has been opened at this location many times before. Maybe that's why they're here." Izzy informed us.

"But from what Gabumon and the others said, Blackwargreymon completely sealed the gate between the worlds. Unless those children don't know that yet..." Matt trailed off.

"Then Oikawa doesn't know either." Cody finished.

"Hey, Tk! Genki!" Davis shouted, followed by the others shushing him.

We turned around and saw Tk with Patamom and Genki with him. I had asked Tk to pick Genki up from my house, and to make sure he had his new digivice with him. Genki had attached a strong piece of string and wore the digivuce around his neck so he wouldn't lose it.

I had to say, Blackwargreymon as my little brother's digimon partner? Never saw that coming actually.

"Hey, anyone know where Sora and Tai are?" Tk asked.

"They're following that girl from yesterday to make sure nothing bad happens to her." Armadillomon answered.

All of a sudden Izzy's phone rang, and the boy answered it.

As soon as he answered, his mother's voice came through, telling him that she was at Highton View Terrance. Their exact location.

Izzy panicked, looking iver the railing, he saw his mom in the phone booth nearby.

"Mom what're you doing here?" The red haired boy asked.

"Well you know," Izzy's mom said, "I just was thinking about the fact that the other parents are soing their part to help you kids, so I sat right down and asked myself 'whats my expertise?' And that's when it hit me. Snacks. So I whipped up sone PB and J with the crust cut off."

Izzy to say the least looked slightly embarrassed, "PB and J?!" Izzy said while the digimon snickered in the bushes.

"Okay, I'll be down in a minute." Izzy said before hanging up the phone and turning back towards us with red tinted cheeks.

"My mom." He said, "I'll be right back." Izzy then ran off to get the food while the digimon cheered for snacks.

"Don't you think," Kari said sadly, "that everything about the digital world is just getting worse and worse?"
