Yesterday I got taken to the courtroom of the Vampire Government and got my sentence. It's decided, my consequence for breaking a lethal law is death. The only thing I can do now is wait.

***

I think a week has passed since I first got here, but I'm not sure. The time in this bare room passes by slowly, some days I wonder if the night ever will arrive.
I have been staring into the white walls for hours now, the corners starts to blend together and I spot some tiny cracks carefully spreading up towards the ceiling. My mind is truly awake, hour after hour, minute after minute, I'm thinking and brooding over my soon death.

***

I hear a tinted sound from the other side of the locked door. A groan and the sound of something falling to the ground, perhaps a body?
Then, suddenly someone is by the door. The key is pressed inside the keyhole and turned.
I'm standing in the middle of the room, my arms crossed and my jaw clenched steady. I'm simply waiting for the guards to come and take me to the room where they will kill me.
Right now I'm living the last moment of my life. I always new my life would end eventually, I just never knew it would be so soon.

It takes me a second to realize who's actually standing in the doorway. It's not the guard or any other unfamiliar face, no, it's Aubrey.
She looks beautiful. Her light brown hair is in a bun and she wears tight clothes. She stares directly at me and smiles trilled.

"Aubrey...", I utter and my mind tries to progress the concept of her truly being here.
"Yes.", she answers, "You have no idea how good it is to see you." She walks up to me and throws herself into my arms. I hug her gracefully and smell her loving scent. One minute ago I never thought I would meet her again and here I am holding my arms around her.

"Aubrey, I'm so sorry.", I claim, my voice is shaking and as I look at her I see tears coming from her eyes.
"I'm sorry too.", she replies, "I couldn't bear the thought of losing you." She wipes her tears away, not knowing how much she means to me.
"How did you know, how did you find me?", I ask, scared that someone is going to step inside the room and tear us apart.
"When I found out that you were hunted I felt the need to make things right between us." I nod, taking in every word she says. "Then Cedrick..."
"You've met Cedrick?", I wonder and she nods before continuing.
"Anyways, he got your call and when you didn't answer he understood that something was wrong. We traced the phone call to an alley in Malibu and found your blood on the ground. So, we came up with the conclusion that you had been taken here."

"And Caitlin...?", I ask, pronouncing her name out loud made my entire body hurt.
"She's alright. She's in a car with Cedrick on the front parking lot.", Aubrey answers and I feel the pain in my heart decrease slightly.
"Is she unharmed?"
"Yes.", she says, her gaze reflects her heartbreaking feelings. "We were heading away from Malibu when I saw her, it was pure luck. She was being put inside a black Ferrari by two men."
"Thank you for saving her.", I express myself and Aubrey just sympathetically smiles. I pull her in for another hug and enjoy her presence more than she ever can ever imagine.

Aubrey is willing to risk her life trying to save me and she saved Caitlin, even though she doesn't know her. She did it for me because she knows that Caitlin means the world to me.
I know now that Aubrey would do anything to rescue me and if the situation was reverse I would save her without hesitation. When it comes to our strong friendship we are both fighters that never surrender. We would risk our lives for each other.
