I sit in my car outside the venue in West Palm Beach. It's about an hour until the concert is supposed to start, and it's crowded here, making me freak out a little. Now I understand why Niall wasn't alway a fan of going out or being recognized, after it started happening with me. It can be scary, with people not accepting the fact that some personal space should be allowed. I look down at my phone, reading through the messages from Niall again. He told me I could come through the back exit, but I haven't had the courage to walk outside of the car, but it's probably time. I pull my hoodie up and get out, starting to walk to where the back exit is supposed to be. I get there with slim to none problems, and meet a security guard. I give him my ID and he lets me in, explaining to me where I'm going. I end up in front of a door with Niall's name on, and I knock lightly. The door opens and Niall is standing there in a pair of dark blue jeans, a white shirt hanging over his shoulder. His hair is wet, letting me know he just got out of the shower. "You good?" he asks and I turn my attention back to his face, realizing that I actually just checked the shirtless man in front of me out. "Uh, yeah, sorry. What did you say?" I ask and he laughs. "I said come in, how are you doing?" he says and takes a step to the side. I blush a little when my shoulder brushes against his chest, and mentally hit myself for acting like a teenager who has her first crush. "I'm good. What about you, ready for the show?" I ask him and he nods. "Yeah, I'm excited, I think it's gonna be really fun. It's the last show so I gotta enjoy it while it lasts, you know," he tells me and I nod, sitting down on the couch. Niall turns away from me, taking his phone and pausing the music I barely noticed. He turns back around and pulls the white t-shirt over his head, his arm muscles flexing when he does so. "Sure you're good?" Niall asks, a small smirk playing on his lips, letting me know he saw me practically staring at me. I bite my lip and look away embarrassed. "Em, don't worry," he says walking over to me. Before I can react he leans forward, his face inches away from mine. I swallow hard, but he just smiles and pulls away again, a shirt with flowers on in his hand.
"You can decide if you want to stay here and watch or join the crowd? Or not the crowd directly, but the VIP part of it," Niall tells me while pulling on the shirt and I just nod. "So, where are you staying?" he asks me, looking down as he folds the sleeves on his shirt a little. "Chesterfield Hotel," I say, my voice unsteady. "I'm staying there as well, what a coincidence! We should definitely hang out tonight, I still haven't been proper drunk with you," Niall tells me, making me laugh a little. "No, I don't know if you've missed out," I say, earning a smile from him. "How do I look?" he asks me, standing in front of me. I take in his appearance and try to decide what I should say. He looks hot as fuck, but I can't really tell him that. "You look good," I manage to stutter out, and he laughs. "Why are you so nervous? This is worse than the day we actually met, Emily," he tells me and I groan, burying my head in my hands, not wanting to look at him. "I don't know. I guess you just look a lot hotter now," I say without thinking, making me blush hard. "Not that you weren't hot two years ago, you're just hotter now. Back then you were more cute but now you're sexy I guess," I ramble on quickly, making him laugh. "I cannot believe I just said that," I mumble to myself. "Well, thank you I guess. If it helps you look hot as well," he tells me, and I look up and roll my eyes at him. "Anyways, what songs are you singing today?" I ask, trying to change the subject, so that I won't have to suffer with my own awkwardness anymore. "The album, and some other songs. I think you'll enjoy it," he tells me, before winking and checking the time on his phone.
"Good luck, Niall. No pressure but this is the first time I get to watch you perform, so make me proud," I say and he laughs. "Sure, sweets," he says and kisses my cheek, before walking off and leaving me to walk to the VIP section. I feel my heart skip a beat by both the nickname but also the kiss, and I realize I'm not really that done with Niall. I thought I was but clearly that isn't the case. I stand in the crowd, listening to his songs, dancing and singing along to what I know. After some songs Niall goes quiet for a few seconds, fiddling with his guitar. He puts the strap over his shoulders and strums a little. "I wasn't really planning on singing this tonight, but I know that someone in the crowd would love this song. I offered you a full concert performance once, but didn't give it to you, so here it comes. This is Fool's Gold," he says and at the end he looks straight at me. He starts singing and I immediately feel goosebumps on my arms. I think back to that car ride that seems like it's so long ago, when in reality it's about two years. He sings it softly, keeping eye contact with me for the most part. When he's done I let out a breath I didn't even know he was holding in. He continues on with the setlist, but I can't really focus on it. All I manage to think about is his blue eyes looking into mine.
Niall's POV
When I'm done performing the last song I get off stage and walk to my dressing room. Emily is standing there, waiting for me like I asked her to. She looks up at me nervously, and I frown a little, not wanting her to be nervous or uncomfortable around me. "You did amazing, I loved it!" she says, smiling at me and going in for a hug, but I stop her, earning a disappointed look on her face. "I'm all sweaty and gross, but I'll definitely take you up on that hug after a shower," I explain, and her frown is switched with a laugh. "Ok, Niall," I open up the door and let her walk in first, before grabbing a fresh set of clothes. "I'm gonna take a quick shower, just make yourself at home," I tell her, walking into the small bathroom.
Once I'm done I put on some clothes and walk back outside, spotting her sitting on the couch scrolling through her phone. "Are you going back to the hotel?" she asks when she looks up at me. I nod, taking a pair of shoes from the floor and putting them on. "I can give you a ride if you want? I have my car here," she tells me and I smile. Even though I have a ride I would much rather join Emily. "Really? That would be great," I say and she nods. "I'm ready to go when you are," she says, before leaning back on the couch. I start to pack up my stuff before I go to tell everyone bye. When I get back Emily is standing there with my bag in her hand, and I take it from her. "Thank you." She smiles at me before we start walking out and towards her car.
