"Em, there you are? Why are you late? We've been on air for about half an hour," Roman scowls as soon as I get into the studio. "I'm sorry, I know, I overslept," I tell him. I stayed up way too long and talked with Niall, which made me sleep through my alarm. I sit down in my chair and put on my headset, suppressing a yawn. "Why are you so tired?" Sonny asks and I shrug. "I know, you stayed up all night talking with Niall, didn't you?" Roman says, but before I can answer we're on air. I glare at Roman when he says that I'm back, and soon we're back into our normal pattern that we keep up.
"Except from you coming in a little late, today was good," Sonny says, pointing his finger at me after we're off air for the last time. "Give me a break, first time ever I'm late," I groan and get up from my seat. "Yeah, whatever you say," Roman says as we walk to our office. "So how is Niall? Haven't seen him in some time." I look over at Roman. "He's good, home in Ireland for a week now," I tell him, getting into my chair and turning on my computer. Roman nods and does the same, looking over at Sonny. We start talking about the show tomorrow. When we're done and I get to go home, it's past four and I'm tired, both from the lack of sleep but also because of the questioning Roman and Sonny do under these meetings. When I get into my building I come to an halt when I see Mary storming out of Lily's apartment. She leaves the door open, and nothing happens. Lily doesn't come out, so I decide to check up on her. I get into her sitting room, where she's sitting in a ball on the couch. "Lily? What happened? Are you okay?" I say as soon as I hear the sobs escaping from her lips. I rush over to the couch, taking the seat beside her. She leans on me and I wrap her arms around me, trying to give her a sense of comfort. "Things aren't going to work out. I told her that if she was going to stay mad we shouldn't keep seeing each other, so she told me that it would be for the better, and then she left," Lily says when she has stopped crying. "Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry," I say, tightening my grip around her. "Maybe it is for the best? Do you really want to be with someone who doesn't want the baby?" I try and she shakes her head. I don't know if she's denying that it's for the best, or if she is agreeing with the last part, but I don't ask. "Have you eaten today?" I ask her and she shakes her head again. "What do you want? I'll get you whatever," I tell her and she shrugs. "Pizza? McDonalds? Pasta?" I try and she shrugs again, pulling away from me and resting back on the couch. "McDonalds," she mumbles, covering her eyes with her arm. "We will fix that," I tell her. She groans and gets up from the couch, walking over to her bedroom. I hear my phone ring, so I look at it and see that it's Niall. "Hey, Nialler, can I call you up later?" I ask when I pick the phone up, but it isn't Niall on the other end. "Emily, hey. We haven't met yet, but I'm Greg, Niall's brother. Sorry to disturb you, but I need to talk with you," he says and I frown, looking over at Lily's bedroom door. "Do you have like five minutes?" he asks, and I nod, before remembering he can't see me and say yes. "When did you see him last time?" he asks, confusing me. "I saw him on facetime yesterday, but like I haven't seen him in maybe three weeks?" I tell him, getting off the couch and walking over to the window. "How busy are you these days? Is there no chance you can fly over here or accompany him to LA?" he asks, his voice a little anxious. "Why? Is he alright?" I start fiddling with my shirt, worried about Niall. "No, or physically he's fine. He's just a little bit of an eejit. He misses you, he's said it to us a couple of times already. If he has to go another five weeks without you I think he's gonna flip, no joke." I let out a relieved sigh, happy that he wasn't hurt. "I really don't know. I'll see if I can figure something out, but I doubt it. How much of an arse is he?" I ask, glancing over at Lily's door, that's still closed. "Called me an asshole today, got mad at Theo because he wanted Niall to play with him, some other stuff as well, but it doesn't matter. He'll probably do better when it isn't his family," Greg says, trying to reassure me. "I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything. I might be able to get a weekend off or something," I say, trying to walk through my calendar in my head. "Yeah, do that. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. He's kinda going crazy over here-" Greg continues talking, but I pull the phone away from my ear, hearing sounds coming from Lils bedroom. I walk over, saying a regular hmm or yeah, into the phone. When I get into her room she isn't there so I walk into the bathroom, where Lily is by the floor near the toilet. "Shit, I have to go Greg. I'll talk to you later or something, I'm sorry, bye," I say into the phone, hanging up before he can say anything. I walk over to Lily and grab her hand. Her face is a little pale, and she has some vomit in her hair. "Lily, are you okay? Can I get you anything?" I ask, knowing enough about being pregnant to understand that's the reason she's throwing up. She shakes her head, and I help her sit up a little, before getting up and finding a cloth that I put under some cold water. I put it against her forehead and she lets out a small sigh. "Now this is just perfect, isn't it?" she mumbles, making me laugh. "Yeah, I don't think this is your day, hun," I tell her and she smiles. "Whatever. I'll get over it," she says and I nod. "Yeah, you will. You're strong. You don't need a girl for this, you're strong and independent," I tell her caressing her back. "Is this your way of telling me you're gonna leave as well?" she jokes, and I hold back a laugh. Lily has always been like this, no matter how down or how much pain she is in, she always cracks a joke. "No, I could never. I depend on you too much," I say and she looks up at me. "Good, cause I depend on you too. Would probably go mad if you weren't here." She leans into my shoulder and I bring my hand up to push a strand of hair away from her face. I groan when I feel something wet on my hand, assuming it's some of the vomit that got stuck. "Shit, sorry. I should probably take a shower," Lily says when she spots my hand, but lets a small laugh escape her lips. "Yeah, do that. I'll fix us some food meanwhile." I get up from the floor and walk over to the sink, washing my hands. "Ok, I'm gonna head out for max half an hour, will you be alright?" I ask her and she nods, getting up from the floor as well.
When I come back with a couple of containers with food in my hands, Lily is on the couch, her TV tuned on. She's watching some shitty reality, and is actually laughing at something on the screen. "Hey, how are you?" I ask when I'm by the couch setting the boxes down. I dropped our original plan with McDonalds, because I though it might make her sick again, but got some thaifood. "I'm fine. Why cry over her, when she isn't crying over me?" she says, and I see that she's biting her lip. "How do you know that?" I ask her and she hands me her phone, showing me a insta story. On the screen I can see Mary, filming herself dancing with some other girl, seemingly having the time of her life. In the next story she reposted something she was tagged in, a video of her kissing the same girl. "Oh, Lily, I'm sorry. She's a real arse, glad you guys broke it of," I say, mumbling the last part. "I don't want to think about it, let's just forget her, I don't care," Lily says, and I'm surprised at how ok she actually seems. Not one of those fake okays, but really okay. She's digging into one of the food containers and laughing at the TV, definitely not showing any signs of her breaking things off with her girlfriend just hours ago.
