A couple of reality episodes later, I check the time and see that I should probably call Niall. "Hey, is it okay if I go and give Niall a quick call? I haven't spoken to him tonight." I raise from the couch and Lily nods. I walk into the bathroom and call him on facetime. "Emily, hey. I was beginning to think you were too busy for me today," he jokes, making me laugh. I take in his appearance, his hair is not styled and is falling into his face, and he looks tired. "As if I could ever be too busy to call you. No, it's just I'm over at Lily's, she and Mary broke up today," I tell him, and he frowns. "Really? I thought you said they would fix things," he says, his accent thick, which makes me even more sure that he's about to fall asleep soon. "Yeah, I did. Apparently not. She seems fine though." He nods and points down to the belly. "How is that going?" he asks and I smile. "It's going well, she's a little nauseous but I think that's normal." I'm really glad I'm not the one who's pregnant, because I have no idea about any of this. "I think it is, yeh. We should pay attention so that we can prepare ourselves," he says, making me chuckle. "Yeah, lad, I think we have a couple of years to get that sorted out," I say, making him groan. "Please tell me my girlfriend didn't call me lad? Did you just friendzone me?" he asks, acting offended. I roll my eyes at him, but can't help but smile. "Yeah, you did. My way of breaking up with you, Nigel. Take care," I joke, adding another nickname I know he hates. "Sod off, Wilson," he smiles and I laugh.
"Do you know who called me today?" I ask him, a smug look on my face. He shakes his head, looking at me curiously. "Your brother, Greg," I say, feeling a little bad about ratting out Greg, but I want to talk with Niall about what he said. "Wait, what? How? When? Why?" The confusion on Niall's face was clear, which I understand. "A little earlier today, he called from your phone. He just wanted to tell me something," I say, backing out last second. I don't think Niall would be too happy if he knew his brother was sharing his feelings with me. On top of that this was the first time I had ever spoken with Greg. "Yeh? What's something?" he asks and I shrug. He frowns, a worried wrinkle forming on his forehead. "What do you know? He told you something," Niall pushes on. "It's nothing, really. He was just a little concerned about you, that's all," I tell him, thinking it's just enough so that he'll be satisfied. "Why? What did I do?" he sits up, leaning forward on his elbows, still holding his phone in one hand. "Niall, you didn't do anything, it was nothing major, ok? Just some traveling stuff." He frowns his eyebrows at me, but seems to take it as an answer. "Ok, I guess. You'll have to tell me sometime though," he demands and I nod.
"What did you do today?" I ask him, changing the subject. "Tell me what I didn't do. I had no idea three year olds were so hyper. We've been in the park, played, tried to get him to sit down to watch some TV, but no, apparently that was boring. He insisted that we could run a couple of rounds around the house instead, as if that's the funniest thing ever. Hey, don't laugh," he says when I start laughing at his gesticulations and frustration over his nephew being all over the place. "I'm not. How bad can it be though? He's probably having the time of his life, his uncle back home and everything," I say, and he nods. "I suppose, wouldn't hurt if he wanted to watch some cartoons once in a while though. I would accept it," he jokes and I roll my eyes at him. "I'm sure, love. I slept through my alarm today, so I missed about thirty minutes of the show," I tell him, and he smirks. "Hey, it's your fault. Wouldn't happen if we didn't stay up on the phone all night," I tease him. He laughs, and I smile. As much as I like talking to Niall on facetime, I miss listening to his voice and laughing in real life. "Hope it didn't get you into too much trouble," he pouts. "No, none at all, love," I tell him and he smiles.
"Finally, you took forever. Not nice leaving a pregnant woman, ok," Lily says when I walk back out after about an hour. "Hey, I haven't seen him in weeks, give me a break," I tell her and smack her lightly on the back of her head as I walk past her. "Why don't you just go to Ireland? I swear you would be happier if you were with Niall," she says, and I lay down. "Don't remind me, ok? I can't," I groaned and she laughs. "You know I'm right. You should just go see him, even if it's for a day. It's easier now, as he's in Ireland. You can't go on a small trip to LA. You could surprise him, he would love that," she tries, but I shake my head. I've been away from work too much, and asking for more vacation days isn't really what I should do right now.
"Good morning, I'm Roman Kemp and this is Capital Breakfast," Roman starts and Sonny claps his hands. "Way too early for that, Sonny," I say and he laughs. We start off as we usually do, keeping up a good vibes the whole time. The hours went by fast and soon we were done, everything going perfect. "That is probably the cleanest show we've ever done," Roman says when we're off air, and I nod. "Yeah, that was quite perfect," I say. When I get off work we go and head over to a bar, as it is friday, and we haven't hung out outside of work in forever. When we get there Roman hands me a beer, and I thank him. We sit there talking for a while, until I see someone enter the pub. "Ro, look at the door," I tell him, and he looks over. "Hell no, I'm not dealing with him today," Roman says, annoyed as soon as he spots my ex, Christopher over at the door. "Who's that?" Sonny asks and I tell him, rewarded with a groan from him. He had heard about him before, but never seen him. "Wanna head out?" Roman asks and I shake my head. "No, he hasn't seen me. I'm sure it will be fine," I tell him and he nods. Sonny leaves after some time, leaving just me and Roman there. "No, we're leaving right now," Roman tells me after half an hour, taking my hand. "Why?" I ask, and he nods his head over at the bar, where I spot Chris, staring right at me. "Ok, let's head," I tell him and get up, so that we can walk out. "Hey, Emily," I hear when I'm by the door. I automatically turn around to look at Chris. "Emily, let's go," Roman says, putting his arm around me. "Em, I want to talk with you. Two minutes, please?" he asks and I think about it. Roman is still standing there. "Sorry, I have to go," I tell him and turn back around, walking away. "So just because you have a boyfriend you can't talk to me? Come on," he says and I roll my eyes. "I couldn't talk with others when I was with you, so surprised you think I would actually talk with you," I turn around and look him in the eyes. "Could be because I cared more for you than your current boyfriend does. Where is he, by the way? Of hooking up with some girls while you're home?" he asks and I roll my eyes. "Yeah, sure." I say, before walking off, annoyed at him. "You need to give me time to speak with you at some point. Seriously." I ignored him, getting into Romans car, not letting him say another word.
