chapter 16

The next morning
Ash's pov

Finally sleep . Then I got shaken awake . So I slowly opened my eyes to see my cousin standing next to my bed . "  Ash you've gotta get ready for school "   I growned to myself then pulled my pillow over my head . " So are you gonna go in today " After I shock my head from under the mound of fabric my cousin left the room without saying another word . 

After my cousin left to go to school I attempted to go back to sleep . But was unable to . So I ended up sitting on my bed playing a game on my phone . 

Kenma's pov

Once I walked out the front door Kuroo ran up to me . " So where's Ash today " Shrugging my shoulders I muttered out a response " he's not going in today " He then nodded and started typing quickly on his phone . The normally hyper guy didn't say another word for the rest of the day

Time skip : lunch time
Kuroo's pov

After what happened with Ash I felt really guilty . So I sent him a bunch of messages Wich he hasn't yet replied to . It was starting to worry me , that I hadn't heard from him yet .

The rest of the day passed  slower than it possibly could . At the end of the day I was debating whether I should go to practice or not . Wich is when Kenma walked up to me . " We've gotta go to practice Kuroo " I nodded then made up an exsuse . So I didn't have to go to practice . " About that , I don't feel to go so I'm gonna go home In stead " My quiet friend shrugged then we split ways . He started heading to the gym and I walked home . Well at least in the direction my house was in .

Ash's pov

I had spent what seemed like twenty four hours since Kuroo told me , just sat in my bed playing games on my phone . I didn't even bother to get any food all day . So I was starting to feel hungry but I ignored it .

At three forty five exactly I heard the front door open . Seconds later my cousin spoke " is Ash still in his room " After a quick reply of " ye " Kenma began to walk up the stairs and towards my room .

Silent knocking at my door gathered my attention . " Ash are you alright " Kenma pushed the door further open before shuffling in and continuing " mum said you've been in here all day " I glanced up at him with an empty look . Which is when he walked over to my bed and sat on the edge . " You can tell me anything , you know that right " Once I broke eye contact with him he smiled and left to go to his room .

Time skip two hours later
Ash's pov

Kenma walked into my room and explained that his mum and dad had gone out . He also said that he'd be down stairs if I wanted to talk to him . But I just nodded and went back to playing my game .

When I got bored of playing the game I decided to look through the messages that Kuroo sent me this morning . I still hadn't replied to them . '  It was like , what was I supposed to say , oh I'm sorry I kinda accident shoved you '

After a while of thinking about what I was going to say to him . My phone buzzed with a nother message from him .

Kuroo : Ash , please answer , I really want talk 2 u

I gasped at the message before debating whether or not I was going to reply . ' If I did respond was he going to ask me a bunch of questions ' But on the other hand if I don't respond he might just send a load more messages . Once I finally decided I was gonna reply my phone buzzed again .

Kuroo : please Ash , I'm sorry if I did something wrong

I sighed at the message before replying .

Ash : it's k , it was my fault

Once I sent the message I watched my phone until Kuroo sent one back .

Kuroo : can u do something 4 me and not ask y

I raised an eyebrow before thinking about what he could be talking about .

Kuroo : walk down stairs and open the front door

If I did sent him a message saying ' why ' he probably would just ignore it . So I got of my bed and slowly walked down stairs .

Once I opened the door I was greeted with the emptiness of the evening street . Then I sighed after thinking Kuroo was just messing with me . But after looking at the floor I realised it wasn't a trick . On the floor below my feet was bar of chocolate with a single red rose on top . A red ribbon was wrapped around them and neatly notted up in a little bow .

A small smile casted a shadow across my face . Then I picked up the items . After talking a step back I closed the door behind me . Only to get another message from my phone .

So I answered with an ergency to know what this message was about .

Kuroo : did u get my gift

After smiling at my phone I began to respond to the message .

Ash : we r not living in some movie u know .

Imeadetly after he replied .

Kuroo : so u like them then

Ash : ye I suppose , but I would have preferred it if u personally delivered them 2 me

Kuroo : same , but I had 2 go out of town for a bit

After Kuroo said that we both stopped messaging each other . which is when i decided to go to bed . But I never expected I was going to be yet again reminded of my loss the next day .

Time skip : the next morning
Kuroo’s pov

Finally Saturday , the weekend . Yesterday I asked , well bribed Inuoka , a first year on the volleyball team . I Asked him to take a chocolate bar and a rose wrapped up in a ribbon to an address . But i didn’t tell him whose house it was . So he did so and me and Ash are now talking to each other again .

The only reason why I had to ask Inuoka to do this for me was because I had to go to the hospital . I got a call from them saying my father had been in an accident . When i talked to Ash i couldn’t tell him because i know it might make him remember .

I yawned loudly and stretched my legs out in front of me on the floor “ Shit i’m tired “ A nurse smiled as she walked into the room . She continued to walk over to my father and started doing tests . Then she left after yet again smiling at me .

After glancing at my phone to get an idea of what the time was I sighed and sunk back down into the chair . Although I tried to get some sleep my phone buzzed . It was a message from Ash .

Ash : r u busy i need 2 talk 2 u about something

As much as i did want to talk to someone about what i was feeling now . Ash was the last person I wanted to talk to about it with because of all that he’s been through . It wasn’t like I could agree to meet him . So I sent him a message replying .

Kuroo : i can call u if u want

Ash : ye sure

Seconds after I read the message I called Ash . Once I answered Ash’s worried face filled up the screen . “ So what did you want to talk about “ Before he replied , Ash hesitated “ Well I was g...gonna ask you if you wanna … h...help me with something “ I nodded to say i would help him . “ So what do you need help with then Ashie “ A look of sadness Crossed his face . Which is when my phone buzzed with a message from Ash .

Ash : Well it’s my parents funeral and well could you come with me .

A smile grew on my face . “ of course I will Ashie “ Then he smiled back . Even though I could tell he could possibly start crying any moment . I knew I had to be there for him otherwise he may end up doing something dramatic .
