chapter 7

Later that afternoon it was just starting to get dark . I was sitting on my bed looking at my phone . When I got a message from Kuroo .

Kuroo : hey what r u doing ash

I smiled at his message and responded .

Ash : nothing much , y

Kuroo : well I'm kinda outside your house .

A shocked expression haunted my face . What was he doing outside , especially at this time of day . Then I heard a tap on my window .
I walked quickly and frowned when I saw him smiling . Kuroo was hanging onto the wall just outside my room next to the window .

" What the hell are you doing " After opening the window I spoke to Kuroo in a aggravated voice . To which he just smiled at . Although his face seemed to be turning red , as if he was about to fall any moment . As I crossed my arms he responded in a struggled tone " are you gonna let me in then " once I unfolded my arms , I gave him a little nod .

On his way into the room Kuroo tripped over and fell face first into the carpet . I secretly thought to myself that the fall would be able to stop him grinning but it didn't work . When he got up he was smiling again .

The tall figure started walking around my room " I'm guessing you haven't started unpacking " I blushed at his comment and tried to speak " w... well ... no... not really "

Shaking my head I attempted to clear my thoughts . " So what are you doing here " Kuroo walked over to me and put his hands on my shoulders " I just wanted to see you " I raised an eyebrow at him and he laughed .

A while had passed Kuroo and I was sitting on my bed talking . " Why did you run off on your first day though " Throughout the conversation I've tried to keep what happened with my parents a secret from him . But it seemed like I won't be able to hold it off for much longer .

Swallowing silently my expression changed . The painful look on my face seemed to worry Kuroo as I spoke " w... well ... there was a ... um... ac... accident and ... well the... there g... gone " . Once I finished my sentence I looked into the spiky haired captains eyes . My eyes felt damp as I blinked . His face looked sympathetic as he pulled me towards his chest and hugged me . I don't know how but I seemed to be crying . Then I attempted to continue " m... my parents '' At the end of what I said I started crying more .

Time skip

Kuroo's pov

After his distressing outburst Ash ended up falling asleep with his head on my shoulder . So I shuffled around so I could sit on his bed with my head against the headboard and I carefully moved him so he would be more comfortable .

Ash's chest rose up and fell back down seconds later . His face looked really troubled . But also a little bit adorable .

Then he started whimpering and his face scrunched up . It's clear that he's probably having a nightmare about his past . To try and calm my agitated friend , I started stroking his hair which framed his worried face .

The wind howled outside as rain started patting against the window . I sighed while looking at Ash's sleeping form . I only decided to come to his house because Kenma told me that he thinks his cousin doesn't like rain . So I was actually kinda smart and figured it might have something to do with what happened to him . Also the fact that his parents died slightly confirms my suspicions .

A roar from the sky outside made me jump . Moments later it started raining rapidly . So I looked down at Ash who was still sleeping . But not for long because the next time the sky responded he woke up . Then he sat up and started looking around the room with a panicked look deep in his eyes . Followed by tears breaking threw the wall he that Ash himself built in his mind and running down his face . Although his face , he sighed when he saw me next to him . Which brought a little blush to his cheeks . This time it seemed like he was relieved that I was around .

I gave him one of my usual smiles and he shook his head . But this time he also laughed . Ash looked worried after looking at the window to see it was raining .

" Hey what's up " Gulping nervously , Ash began to explain . " W.... Well when It ha ... happened , it was raining " I nodded then folded my arms tightly around his waist . He tried to escape but didn't give him the chance to .

After giving up on trying to escape the hug Ash started to speak to me . " Hey um Kuroo , d... do you have a girlfriend " I raised my eyebrows at what he said and the corner of my mouth tilted up into a small grin " wouldn't you like to know " Then I winked at my friend and stuck my tongue out .

Ash's pov

The captain of the Nekoma volleyball team sat beside me on my bed . With his tongue stuck out while he was winking at me . His reply to my question wasn't really an answer . Which bugged me . What was he thinking? More importantly why did he wink at me . Turning around once again to look at him , I sighed at his cheery smile .

Time skip : the next morning
Ash's pov

The sun shone through the window pulling out of my peaceful nightmare free slumber . As I rolled over to avoid the bright light I rolled into what felt like a warm , soft pillow . But this pillow didn't feel like any of my ones .

So I fluttered my eyes open to see Kuroo's sleeping face just inches away from mine . What was he still doing here? Although I tried to persuade myself not to, I couldn't help but admire his face as he slept . His hair looked more messy than it usually is and his face looked so content .

Last night was the first night in a while that I had got a decent night sleep . I don't have a clue if it's because Kuroo was next to me or the nightmares just faded . Whatever it was , I was grateful .

Kuroo wrapped an arm around me and pulled me closer , While smiling to himself . Accepting the embrace was a shock even though I was the one who did so . Then we both went back to sleep .
