I woke up to the sound of the alarm marking the day that would change my life forever. No longer was I the regular Hannabell Moore. I was the student Hannah who was one step closer to being a hero just like my parents. I didn't want to be that weak teenage girl any longer and now I didn't have to be. The school would be the foundation of finding out what the power I possessed was capable of.
Stretching, I reached for my mobile laying on top of the white bedside table. Squinting with light-deprived and still fatigued eyes I looked at the bright screen and managed to switch off the alarm. Then I wiped my eyes and blinked before scrambling out of bed to get ready.
I chose a casual red dress and some matching shoes. Once, ready I put my packed bag over my shoulder. It was a lot heavier than I thought it would be. Even though it weighed me down, I managed to drag my suitcase down the stairs, making thumping noises as it collided with each stair with a thud.
"Why didn't you ask for help?" My mum asked me when I reached the bottom.
"I wanted to do it myself," I answered. All though now, she said that I wished I did ask for help.
My shoulder was killing me so I took off the bag and put it next to my suitcase, giving my aching shoulder a break. Then I followed my mum into the kitchen leaving both behind.
"So you're finally leaving then?" My brother joked with me as I plopped into the seat next to him.
"Shouldn't you be leaving?" I asked him.
"I am tomorrow. I found a flat," he answered me.
"That's good," I said as I got myself some cereal.
"Oh, we are going to be taking Sophie and Liam with us because their mum has to be at the cafe early this morning," my dad pipped up. Sophie and Liam's mum owned a cafe.
"Okay," I said after I finished eating a mouthful of cereal, and then went back to eating.
After breakfast, there came a knock at the door, so I jumped up and ran towards the door before anyone else could answer it. Opening the door, I saw Liam and Sophie standing there with their suitcases.
"She's so beautiful. I wish she was my girlfriend. I want to kiss her, but she doesn't like me that way. What more can I do? I love her," Liam sighed, but his lips didn't move. Was I hearing his thoughts? Was this part of my power?
My eyes fell on him as I smiled.
"What?" he asked.
"Really?"
"I didn't say anything, " he replied.
"No, but you were thinking," I pointed out.
"You can read people's minds too?" Sophie asked me.
"I think so, but this is the first time I have heard someone's thoughts," I replied.
"You-you heard me?" He responded.
"You're here. Just let me go get the car keys," my dad's voice came from behind me stopping me from answering.
I went to go get my bag and suitcase and took them outside by the time I do my dad had found the car keys. We all walked to the car pulling along our luggage. My dad opened the boot, so I put my bag in. My dad helped Sophie to put it in her small suitcase, and I tried to put mine in but it was really heavy. It must have been all them shoes and jumpers but you couldn't have too many shoes and jumpers, right?
Liam picked it up for me and put it in. "Thank you," I said.
"No problem. What have you got in there anyway to make it so heavy?"
