(Janet's POV)
November 22, 2025

I felt someone's presence behind me. Who is it? I turned around and saw Jeremy standing in front of me. “Oh there it is you.” I said in relief.

“Hey Janet, you look a little sad. Aren't you glad I'm here?” he asked.

“You think so?” I asked furrowing my brows.

“Sorry I was just joking.” he said and smiled nervously and I couldn't stop laughing.

“Janet, I know you tried hard to summon me last night, but I couldn't come. I'm sorry for that.” He said.

“It's ok, but can I know the reason why you couldn't come?” I asked.

“Janet, all this is happening because of your powers. Your powers are becoming dangerous and are trying to control you.” He said and I was left bewildered.

“What do you mean? Which powers?” I asked.

“Your subconscious mind. I am present in your subconscious mind. That is why I was able to come to my house some time ago and am here right now. I can be wherever you want me to as long as I am in your subconscious mind. And I think I am present in your subconscious mind all the time because you want me to be with you all the time. Isn't it?” he said.

Although he was serious I couldn't stop laughing after hearing his words. Maybe, he is right. It's true, I really want him to be with me all the time, every moment.

“What happened, why are you laughing?” he asked.

“Trying to flirt with me?” I asked and smirked at him.

“What?? No no it's not like that.” he said nervously.

“Are you blushing Jeremy?” I asked, teasing him.

“Oh! No I am not blushing” he said and laughed.

Then we both started laughing and stood silent for a few minutes, just looking into each other's eyes. It felt like we could spend centuries like that. We could spend centuries just looking at each other. No worries, no sadness, no words. Complete silence. Finally I broke the silence by saying “Jeremy”.

“Yeah?” he said, looking at me.

“Now tell me the truth, why couldn't you come yesterday?” I asked him.

“You were frustrated and angry. At that time your brain was not able to read your subconscious mind properly. As I told you earlier this is because of your powers. It is confusing your mind and trying to control you,” he said.

“What kind of powers are you talking about every time Jeremy? I really don't understand anything clearly,” I said.

“Janet, before you read the journal, I want to tell you something,” he said.

“Tell me,” I said.

“If I tell you, will you believe me?" he asked.

“You just tell me,” I said eagerly.

“Promise me that you won't get angry at me,” he said.

“I promise I won't. Now tell me,” I said impatiently.

He looked at me and said, “Janet, you...you are a witch.”

“Good joke. Now tell me what the actual matter is.” I said laughing.

“I'm not joking, Janet.” He said timidly.

“Jeremy, you know I don't like jokes like that.” I said a little seriously.

“I know, that's why I'm not joking. Janet, I'm telling you the truth. You're a witch. That's why you have amazing powers. You can summon me wherever you want. No ordinary human can do that,” he said.

“I-I don't believe it,” I stammered.

I looked at him and said, “Are you telling me the truth? I really…” I didn't even finish my sentence before he shook his head nervously.

I felt like someone had stabbed me in the heart. His voice sounded like a blunt arrow. My vision began to blur and I collapsed to the ground in a panic.

“Janet!” he screamed, seeing me fall.

He knelt down beside me and asked softly, “Are you okay?”

“I-I what…what am I? A witch??!” I started stuttering.

“I'm sorry Janet. I never told you the truth because I didn't want to hurt you.” He said.

Gritting my teeth, I asked, “How long have you known this?”

“I-I…” He stuttered.

“Say it Jeremy,” I yelled at him.

“Ever since we were in high school.” He said.

I stood up and turned my face away from him. I was flaring up and my anger was turning to rage.

“Jeremy, get out of here,” I said.

“Janet, listen…” He didn't even get to finish his words when I interrupted him in a harsh tone, “Leave me alone Jeremy.”

“You promised me you wouldn't get angry.” He said in a quivering voice as he was getting scared.

“Didn't you hear me? Get out!” I yelled at him.

He backed away a few inches.  His crying face started to blur and it slowly started to fade away and finally he disappeared.

“Jeremy” I whispered, but he was already gone. I sat down on the floor and tears started to flow from my eyes. I regretted what I had done. I regretted it so much. I didn't want to be angry at him. I had never hurt him like this before, but what he said today was too much to bear and it hurt more that he had never told me this hellish secret before.

“Why Jeremy? Why? Why did you hide such a big thing from me?” I whispered. I started blaming him, not just him, but my parents too. I started blaming my parents more than him. Why did they never tell me this? Why? Or do they not know what I am? I still can't believe it. I still can't believe what he said. I'm a witch!
