Day Two~

Jewel's POV:

A bright light illuminated my face. I cracked my eyes open and was blinded by the bright yellow light coming from the window. Once I realized what it was, I smiled.

I always wanted to know what it was like to wake up to sunlight.

I grabbed my necklace in my hand and checked the number.

29.

I sat up and threw the covers off of me. I made the bed up nice and neatly before leaving the room and heading to the kitchen.

His dog met me at the bottom of the stairs and licked my legs.

I giggled and pet his head. "Hi, Bruno."

Bruno followed me into the kitchen where Michael sat in the same spot at the table as he did last night. I sat down across from him.

"Good morning." I said.

"Good morning." He replied, drowsily.

"Are you still sad about Jessie?" I asked.

He shook his head. "Not as much. I'm just tired."

"I can make you an egg sandwich if that'll wake you up." I said with a smile.

He chuckled. "I don't need an egg sandwich. I need coffee."

"You already know what I'm going to ask."

He smiled. "Yeah, I do." I'll just show you what it is rather than telling you."

He stood from his chair and walked over to a machine. He opened the top of it and scooped some brown, dirt looking stuff into it. He added water and pressed a button.

A dark brown liquid started filling in the cup. He added a white, creamy liquid and some white powder into the cup and mixed it.

He handed me the cup. "Try it." He said.

I blew on the hot liquid before taking a sip. I didn't know if it was from the heat of the drink, or whatever the hell he put in it, but I instantly felt super alert and awake.

"Woah." I said. "This is what humans drink?"

He raised a brow. "Yeah, we do." He said.

"This is good! I feel so awake! How did it do that?"

"It's caffeinated. Caffeine wakes you up." He said as he began pouring a cup for himself.

I proceeded to chug the whole cup.

"Can I have another?"

He gave me a funny look. "One cup is more than enough. If you drink too much, you'll get really really hyper." He said.

I sighed and slumped in the chair. "Fine." I said.

He set his mug on the counter. "Come on, Bruno. Ill go fill up your bowl." He said while snapping his fingers.

His dog followed him out of the kitchen. When he left, I brought my cup back to the coffee machine.

I tried to remember the steps that he used. I scooped the coffee dirt into the top of the machine and added the water. I pressed the button and watched the coffee fill in my cup.

The bottle of the white creamy stuff that was labeled "creamer" was sitting next to the machine along with a bag labeled "sugar."

I added the creamer and sugar to the drink and stirred it.
