Seeing Damba standing there, I wanted to punch him and ask him why he brought me to Abuja in the first place. At the same time, I wanted to hug him for coming back and not abandoning me. But then, I remembered what transpired between him and that cleaner.
I put on the glasses, picked my phone and started walking away. Damba walked after me so I ran.
"Adeola, wait!" Damba chased me.
I didn't look back, I just kept running. I wanted to be away from him. I couldn't hear Damba's footsteps or his voice so I stopped to look back and he wasn't there. I heaved a sigh of relief and started walking slowly, veering towards my room when Damba caught my arm.
"Adeola, wait."
I glared at him. "What do you want?"
"Your ti- Wait, have you been crying?" He asked and I looked away.
"Let go of my arm."
"How can you say that when I've been looking all over for..."
"Damba, let go of my arm." I was getting angry.
"What's going on, Deola?" My behavior confused him.
"Damba! Leave me alone." I yanked my arm free from his grip.
"Ade...!"
I took to my heels and when I got to my room, I locked myself up in the bathroom.
"Adeola! Adeola!!" Damba banged on the door.
"Leave me alone, please!"
"No, I won't. I want to know what's with this newly found attitude of yours."
"That's just who you are. Grab girls and squeeze them tight until you're done with them."
I could hear Damba sitting on the floor, leaning on the bathroom door.
"Go away, Damba!" I screamed.
"What do you mean by I grab girls and squeeze them?" Damba asked.
"I saw you now. How much fun did you have with that girl in her house?" I asked, hoping he won't tell me anything about it.
"Which girl?" He was playing dumb.
"The cleaner."
"Ahh! Ade- Come outside, let's settle this."
"It's already settled. You had fun with me in bed, then the cleaner was next." I sighed. "Isn't it time for you to throw me away?"
"Adeola! I said come outside, let's settle this." I couldn't believe that Damba was getting angry when I'm supposed to be.
"Adeola!" He called again.
I didn't reply. I knew he'd leave the room if I ignored him. And he did. I wanted to take my earpiece and plug it in so I wouldn't hear him calling when he returned.
I opened the door and gasped. "What are you still doing here?"
"I didn't leave." Damba said, folding his arms as he sat on the couch.
My gaze shifted to the bed, where the earpiece was peering out of my bag. He stared at it too. I was only inches away and I could reach for it quickly and dash back into the bathroom.
It seemed simple until I tried to do it. Damba caught me quite fast, even before I reached the bag.
I was staring into his eyes. "Let me go, please."
He did. I turned to the bathroom, I was going to lock myself up again.
"She stole my watch."
I looked back at him. "What?!"
