It was Friday, only a few hours before Kaede has to go to her competition.

Mean while, I'm sitting in History class, staring at my notes as the teacher lectures another student. It got pretty annoying hearing the teacher speak, I honestly wish she could shut up and go back to the lesson, or let the bell ring to dismiss us.

Eventually, the teacher went back to the lesson but the bell had rung 5 minutes after. Everyone seemed tired and wanted to go home, I mean, I can't argue with that, this was our last class.

I grabbed my things, walking out of class, heading to my locker to get my things. I unlock and open my locker, getting out my things and then closing the locker door, locking it.

I walk home with my things, looking at my phone as I arrive home.

30 minutes until we all have to go to Kaede's competition. Ibuki had already informed all of us that Maki is the one driving us all there. Honestly.. I don't trust Maki when it comes to driving.

I went on twitter, checking notifications. There's some support for Kaede at her competition in the group chats. I sigh, letting my phone charge as I let my mind wander about.. a lot of things.

Like.. soulmates. Soulmates, I thought, sitting up. It could be Rantaro, or.. someone else?

But.. that really doesn't make sense. I can't think of anyone I know with those 5 letters all in the same name. I sighed, getting up and walking out of my room, walking down the stairs and walking to the kitchen. I still had some time, so why not spend it doing something?

I open the pantry, grabbing a bag of chips and closing it, walking back up to my room. I sat down on my chair, turning to face my computer, turning it on.

I went on Netflix, picking a random movie that I found interesting, and letting it play as I ate my chips.

We were 15 minutes from where we're supposed to be headed, half of us probably lost our minds and started having a karaoke.

"Meet me, meet me at the overpass, at the overpass!" Ibuki sang, jamming at the backseat.

"Sketchy girls and lipstick boys," Rantaro joined in.

"Sketchy girls and lipstick boys," Maki said, stopping at a red light.

"Trouble love and high speed noise!" Ibuki sang.

Kaede laughs, joining in as well. I looked at all of them who seems to be having fun until they urged me to join in as well.

"Cmon, Shuichi! Sing with us!" Ibuki urged, shaking me from the backseat. "Wha- I- Um- no, I'm fine," I say, nervously smiling.

Ibuki huffed, "You know what, I'll let your little friend convince you," Ibuki said, the overpass still playing.

Rantaro looks at me and I look back. "I'll do anything if you join~," Rantaro said, winking, intertwining our fingers. I quickly turn red, looking away, "Oh my god, no, no, I'm still not joining," I said.

"Aww, why not, Shuichi?" Rantaro asks, our hands still intertwined.

"Okay, when I say 'convince' I didn't mean all this gay shit, okay? There's other people in this car," Ibuki said, separating our hands, "Now, Shuichi, ignore what Rantaro said, are you joining or not?" Ibuki asks.

"No-"

"Too bad, you're joining," Ibuki said, changing the music after texting Kaede what song to change it to. LA Devotee plays, Ibuki starts then all of us joined in.

"You got bleached out eyes from the valley sand and a black tar palms keep weeping your name," We all sang in unison, jamming to Panic at the Disco.

We all enter the building, looking around. Kaede waved goodbye to us, entering backstage as we waved goodbye as well. We all look around, then walking to some available seats, sitting down. We had a pretty good view, all we have to do now is wait.

Ibuki, Rantaro, and I talked to each other about a lot of things, while Maki, Mikan, and Tenko had their own conversations.

The lights dimmed, shushing the audience as the host starts talking into the microphone. After that, another person stepped on the stage, wearing a black  dress, her hair in a bun and wearing black heels.

She sat at the piano, then began playing.

———

"Contestant 47, Akamatsu Kaede," the host said into the microphone, walking off stage as Kaede entered, sitting at the piano, smiling.

She began playing Claire de lune by Claude Debussy, her fingers magically dancing across the keys, avoiding wrong notes.

I smile a bit, listening until Kaede finished, standing up and walking to the front, bowing before walking back stage.

More and more contestants came on stage, they all were really good. The lights brighten up just a bit, the judges discussing who will be the winner.

Ibuki tapped on our shoulders, pointing at the others. Apparently, Rantaro understood and tapped on the others shoulders, getting their attention.

Ibuki held up her phone so we can all see, something.. about.. ? I look at it in confusion, Ibuki stared at me, 'Really?' She mouthed. 'What?' I mouthed, looking even more confused. 'Nevermind' she mouthed, putting her phone away.

"And finally, the contestant coming in 1st place,"

"Akamatsu Kaede."
