Flashback: port of the enchanted forest- a month before Victoria was left on Neverland.
"Papa?" A teenage girl- only fifteen- slipped up onto the deck of the Jolly Rodger. Under the inky black sky that was dotted with a myriad of bright white stars, stood a man at the starboard bow. He held a telescope in one hand and a map and sextant in the other.
His gaze was drawn from the sky as he turned to face the little voice.
The girl wore a simple white dress with a brown leather bodice and her mother's old golden locket. "I thought I told you to go to bed." He said and she shrugged a defiant smirk taking over her features.
"I got bored." She shrugged. Having been hidden in her room, behind father's study, deep in the hull the young girl had slipped away once the rest of the crew had departed for the night or headed down to the keep to sleep their drunken states away. "So, what are you doing?" Asked the girl as she stepped up onto the upper deck.
"Charting our course." He replied, "I thought I told you not to come up until morning." He said again with a stern look. "I wanted to come find you." She replied with yet another shrug.
But he couldn't stay stern for long, he released a soft chuckle. "Well come over. I'll show you our course." He beckoned her and she advanced towards him, allowing him to reach out to her and pull her to stand in front of gain against the side of the gently swaying ship.
"Why are you looking at the sky and not the sea?" She asked confused. "Because we aren't travelling by sea when we go, we are are travelling by air." He told her and she released a skeptical giggle.
"What's funny?" He asked and she continued to laugh. "A flying ship?"
"Precisely." He nodded with a stoic look. "And what would we do to fly?"
"Pixie dust." He answered and she laughed again."You see those two stars....the biggest one in the sky and the small one to it's right?" He pointed out to her. "Yeah?" She nodded while she stared through the telescope. "That's our target....the 'x' on our map." He said as she stared at the small white marks on the black stained sky.
"The second star to the right and straight on till morning." He recited and she smiled. "Right on till morning?"
"Precisely little one.""Papa! I'm not little anymore....I'm a lady!" She scolded him.
"That you are my love.....but to me....you're like that little star and I am like the bigger one....you will forever by my side." He told her and she smiled softly behind the scope, he stood behind her holding her shoulders protectively."There are dangers out there little star....ones I wish for you to never face....but when you do.....I will always be there."
"I know papa."
"Good.....now off to bed.....you can help me steer in the morning.""Yes papa."

Present day- Mystic Falls- three days later- late morning.
Nancy Jones sat, stonily, staring out across the empty town of Mystic Falls as she thought over the past three days.
Her father had returned to her life and was now trying to get her to open up to him after so long; her best friend was trying to force her into conversation at every step after a devastating blow to their friendship two nights before; her town was empty and her friends scrambled and her future now uncertain.
Damon had managed to return Oscar to his mother but he wasn't the same, Caroline was freed and Lily had welcomed another member of her 'family' into their new 'home' after it was found out that one of her children had betrayed her.
Valarie had been cast out of the boarding house and so had shacked up with the Salvatore brothers, Nancy, her father and Emma Swan at the Lockwood manor.
That morning, Emma had been making breakfast for the house when she slipped out to take a walk around town. Damon had been doing her head in with his constant cornering and her father was itching to speak with her alone, which right now she just couldn't handle.
Nancy didn't mind having Valerie there acting as a crudely sarcastic barrier between the warring best friends and distracting Stefan from his duty as peace maker so he couldn't force the two to speak.
She was no longer mad at Damon, she was just sacred to hear his reaction to her admissions of the earlier night.
She was now sitting atop the city hall her legs dangling over the clock tower's edge as she perched herself high above the town she had called home for so long.
Her peaceful reflection was broken however when a soft voice broke her from her thoughts. "You're a hard person to find." It was Emma.
"I'd be careful up here....people have been known to fall and I'm not good a playing catch." The vampire replied with a dark tone of her voice. She didn't dislike the blonde saviour in any way....but the woman's attempt at female camaraderie, or friendly support...or whatever she thought she was doing- was not subtle.
"Your father was really looking for you hard you know....even went back to Neverland with us and helped us get my son back from Pan to look for you." The blonde woman said disregarding the safety warning as she sat down beside the vampire. "You don't need to sell the story to me...I know he looked....but it's gonna take time.....ask the brothers, they'll tell you....I hold a grudge." The dark haired woman said as she continued to stare out across the twin instead of looking at the blonde.
"Yeah, Stefan said as much....You remind me of myself a lot....when my son Henry first found me and brought me back, the the curse broke and I still didn't believe....honestly, I still don't feel like I belong....I used to just find people so when your dad said he needed my help I jumped at the chance to help him find you...I needed an out." The blonde explained.
"I'm sorry." Nancy spoke after a beat of silence, her stoic mask finally slipping. "I.....I know it's not good to hold a grudge but....but I was hurt for a long time and I just never thought I'd have him back....and fighting with Damon, feeling used and unappreciated when all he wants is Elena back even after she rejected him.....it's kills me to see him so desperate." Nancy admitted feelingly an oddly comfortable freedom around Emma. She knew the blonde wouldn't judge her cause like her, she knew what it was like to feel alone, abandoned and unwanted.
"I know father loves me, I just don't really feel like he understands what happened to me after he left me there.......I was with Baelfire and we fell through that portal and.....and then I was alone again.....alone in this new world with no one. Until I met the Lockwoods and they took me in, then their parents died and I only had George. Then there was Damon and Stefan and I know they've never left me.....but I've always been second best- behind Katherine and Elena, behind Caroline and even Alaric and Bonnie......I'm just 'reliable old Nancy with no emotions of my own, cause I have to always look out for everyone else's." She poured her heart out, things she had never said to anyone of her 'friends' before, like a a freshly bursting water balloon of emotions finally being popped.
"Sorry for ranting, you don't need to know all of my thoughts." The vampire apologised but Emma shuck her head, "it's ok." Emma said sending the brunette a soft smile.
"I'm heading back, if you wanna come with me?" The blonde offered and Nancy nodded. "Sure....I guess I better try talking to Damon."
So the two women moved down the tower again and headed back towards the Lockwood mansion.
