Author note: sorry I haven't been updating. A lot of new stories along with just life in general has had me busy. But I will be trying to finish up this story! Oh and I recommend listening to the song with headphones. It's SO beautiful.

Syreana POV

A bright light shines down on the tiny row boat that holds crewmen from Blackbeard and I. They were definitely going about this the right way. With man made light, singing, and well.. men they were sure to attract the cannibals. Of course this did take some time. That meant I would have time for Jack to pester me with questions. And he did just that.

I was laying on the beach shore gazing into the nights sky. Which was lit up dimly with only the stars and a lamely, new crescent moon. Just waiting for something to happen really. I'm completely confident in Grayson's abilities to hold of the mermaids himself, so I was really just ready to get this over with. The only reason I'm here is to observe and make sure Blackbeard or, frankly, Jack doesn't mess with anything they shouldn't on the way to the fountain.

So there I was peacefully laying down, just waiting, when Jack decides to block my view of the gorgeous sky with his face.

"Could we talk now, love?"

I couldn't help but let a small smile show on my face. I haven't heard him call me love in so long. It brings back so many memories.

"Alright," I pat the ground beside me. With a joyful expression Jack quickly takes me up on the offer and lays down next to me.

"So did you enjoy traveling across the world, well.. both worlds?" I could hear the hint of amusement in his voice.

I chuckled softly. "Yes I did, immensely." I answered automatically. "I've done so much, and learned so much more."

I turned my head to see that he was already looking at me. This made me laugh.

"What about you? I know that Barbossa took the Pearl after I left. Did you go after him?"

He exhaled sharply. "No, but I will say I was quite perplexed when I came back to the dock to not find my ship." But I knew that wasn't all when I saw him start to grin. "Little did Barbossa know that he I had taken the important part of the map."

A giggle left my mouth at the thought. "Oh dear, he must have been fuming." That's when a thought popped into my head. "Do you know what happened to Gibbs? I haven't seen him at all. I do miss him."
I asked leaning on my hand held my my elbow on the sandy floor.

Jack smiled while scanning my now somewhat worried expression.

"He's alright love. He's actually with Barbossa at this very moment." He explained with the same amused expression.

His finger trailed along my collarbone to eventually move hair over my shoulder. Jack licked his bottom lip glancing from my shoulder back to my eyes.

I bit my lip trying to hold back a smile. "Did you have fun without me?"

A breathy laugh left Jack. "Not possible darling."

My hand grabbed his off my shoulder. I laced our fingers together. I had missed this feeling.

Jack gazed bounced from our hands, to my eyes, then finally to my lips. Slowly his face seemed to become closer to mine. Our lips inches from each other...

Then I heard a scream.

My head whipped to the side, and I sat up just as quickly. Jack grumbling under his breath would have been way more amusing to me if I didn't see Grayson using the paddle board to hit the cannibals. There were many of them. But Grayson knew how to hold his own.
One by one the mermaids attacked, even getting ahold of one man. The poor soul was dragged down into the sea before anyone could save him. Though that was the only casualty.
I rushed over to the docks to get a better look. Most of the men are trying to help and are rowing the boat back while Grayson fights them off. While the rest of the crew on shore get the nets ready, Blackbeard maneuvers his ship. He made it blast fire where most of the mermaids were, making them swim forward. He was quite literally trying to back them into a corner.
The men on the boat had swiftly as possible made it onto the dock. At this point everything had gone silent.
I took note that Tim had helped Grayson onto shore along with the rest of the men, and Nagini was right by his side. I also noticed that one of the men getting off the boat with Grayson was Jason.
