You reach town just before they open the doors to the building. There’s sort of a lot of people there, and the building fills up fast.
A man by the door yells, “We can only fit ten more people!”
You look around, there’s about twenty people in line. You look ahead of you and realize you’re the ninth people in line.
“We can get in!” You say happily.
It’s starting to get cold out when you finally get in the doors.
You walk into a dim room full of rows of seating. You hear the doors shut behind you.
“There,” Ed points to two seats near the back of the room, away from the other people.
You follow him to the two seats. You both sit down next to each other. Ed still holds your hand. The movie starts a minute later.
It was only an hour long, but it was awesome. About half way through you rested your head on Ed’s shoulder. He stroked your hair gently.
When the movie ended you sighed. You wish it could have gone on forever.
“That was amazing!” Ed says as the lights turned back on.
“Yeah, I’ve never seen a movie like that before,” You say. You’ve always seen modern movies, never one like this. It’s weird how much you stepped back in time comparing your world and his.
“That was really fun!” You say, exiting the building, “We should do things like this more often.”
“Yeah!” Ed says.
It’s already dark when you both walk out into the cool fall air. You start walking home.
After a few minutes, Ed notices you’re shivering. He takes his jacket off and hands it to you.
“Here, you should wear this,” Ed tells you, “I don’t want you to get sick.”
You take the jacket and slip it on. You shiver and pull the jacket over your neck. You smell the jacket, it smells sweet, like cinnamon.
You still shiver, Ed puts his automail around you and pulls you closer to him. You lean your head on his shoulder and you walk back home.
You get in the door and the heat of the house hits you. You both go into the living room and sit in front of the fire place.
You warm up, but still wear Ed’s jacket. It just smells so nice!
“You warmed up yet?” He asks you.
“Huh? Yeah, I’m warm. Still a little chilly though,” You respond.
“Well, it’s getting late and I don’t want you or me to freeze tonight. Want to sleep in my room?” He asks.
“Sure. I don’t’ wanna be cold either.”
You both head upstairs to Ed’s bedroom. You both curl up under the blankets, still wearing the clothes you wore to the movie.
Ed holds you tightly in his arms. You hold his hands around your stomach.
Tomorrow, you were gonna do it. You were gonna bring him back. You won’t fail. You can’t fail.
Ed moves his head to rest on your shoulder. You both fall asleep easily tonight.
