Chapter 27

You get out into the empty yard. Ed giggles. He changes his automail into the sharp edge.

“Weapons allowed,” he declares.

“Sure, why not?” Ed notices you would need a circle or something to get a weapon. He comes over and takes your jacket off. He places his hands on the metal plate of your automail. It shapes itself to look like Ed’s. Sharp black edging out just over your hand.

“Ready?” Ed asks, backing up into a battle stance.

“Ready,” You say, lifting up your automail in front of your face defensively.

Ed yells and runs at you. He raises his blade and swipes down at you. You jump out of the way, he just misses you. You land on the ground, stunned by his force right off the bat.

You raise your blade just in time to block Ed’s blade from hitting you in the face. Sparks fly of the clashing metal. You push back and he jumps back away from you.

You jump up and take a swing at him. You swing too wide and he drop kicks you. You land on your stomach; the air gets knocked out of you.

You flip onto your back and see Ed running at you. It’s snowing now and you’re getting cold. Ed jumps, blade aimed for your neck. You roll, and turn back to where you just lay, Ed’s blade is jammed into the ground where your head was.

You notice Ed can’t get his blade out of the hard ground. Now’s your chance.

You get up and run over to him. He looks up to you, but it’s not Ed who’s face you see.

It’s Envy. Envy was sitting there on the ground in front of you.

“What? Come on, afraid?” He says.

You get angry, realizing he was the reason you were fitted with automail, and why you tried to bring him

You charge, fueled with rage. You raise your blade and swipe at him, he swings out of the way.

You turn around to face him and he kicks you in the stomach. You swing again at him, he jumps out of the way but you scrape his cheek pretty deep.

He jumps over you, you turn around but he’s not there. You feel a sharp pain in your back and you get knocked down.

You jump back up. You swing wildly at Envy. He backs up quickly, you keep coming.

Envy stumbles over a rock in the ground; he falls onto his back, landing in a small pile of snow.

You come down on him, blade aimed for his throat.

“(Y/N)!” He yells, fear in his voice. You falter at the sudden burst of fear.

You stop, blade just about to pierce his skin.

“(Y/N)! Stop! What’s wrong with you?” Envy yells, scared out of his wits.

It feels like there’s snow in your eyes, you blink a few times.

You get ready to move your blade into his neck, when Envy is no longer there.

In his place, is a terrified and flustered Ed. He grabs at your arm, trying to pull it away from him.

You freak out a little bit. Where was Envy? Had you been seeing things? Was it Ed you were attacking?

“(Y/N)!” Ed screams again, pulling at your arm. You slowly pull your automail away from him.

“I-I-I…” You can’t find words to tell him anything.

“Are you okay? What was that? You’re eyes glazed over and you attacked like I was actually going to hurt you!” He yelled.

“Don’t yell! I don’t know what I was doing either!” You shout back, trying to comprehend the situation.

“You almost killed me! This hurts ya know, not all of me is made of steel!” He points to the large gash in his cheek that’s bleeding.

“I’m so sorry! I thought you were Envy! I don’t know why!” You scream.

Ed changes his automail back to normal. He hesitantly put his hands on your automail and put it back to normal too.

“I don’t know if I can trust you anymore. You do things without thinking about them logically!” Ed says.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know what’s real anymore,” You’re eyes start watering.

You wipe the blood off Ed’s cheek. The gash was actually not too deep, just bleeding a ton.

“I’m sorry if you can’t trust me, then I’ll just go.”

You turned to walk to the house, grabbing Ed’s coat off the ground and slipping it on.

You start towards the house, but Ed grabs you around your waist.

He hugs you tightly, resting his head on your shoulder.

“Don’t leave me. I could never live without you,” He whispers into your ear.
