Chapter 5

Annabeth's POV

Gods

How could she just disappear like that? Jason knew what happened, he just wasn't talking. He knows how scared we all are. Like seriously just tell us she's alive! I THOUGHT MY BEST FRIEND DIED! Then that crazy lady called Chiron, she's another child of the underworld apparently. That doesn't make sense though, the prophecy turning 16 etcetera. Oh Thanatos. Stupid ADHD get back to the point, we have to go find her.

"So Nico, you know where she is?"

"Well no, but I can track Natalia. I'm sure she's fine though. This is Piper we're talking about. The beauty queen who can take down Natasha Romanoff."

"I haven't been honest with you guys, I saw Piper about a week and a half ago." Jason's words catch us all off guard.

"Spill, you got 20 seconds." That wasn't as harsh as I intended, oops.

"She and her dad got in a car crash the night we got to California. Her dad died. She was in the hospital until two days ago. She was adopted by her godmother. Her godmother is Laura Barton, Clint Barton's wife."

"What in Hades Jason. How could you not tell us? She needs people after that, everyone needs friends to keep them grounded after something like that happens." I'm about to start crying, but Percy grabs my hand and we walk over to the couch. No one else knows that my dad was killed by some rogue demigods after he had helped us on Mount Tam. My step mother kicked me out and Percy's parents looked after me until my 18th birthday. The only reason I survived was Percy and his family. I get what Piper's going through, more than anyone else. That's why I need to make sure she's ok. I need make sure she didn't go down the same road I did. It's a hard road to come back from.

Clint's POV

Laura and Piper are still upstairs, and the kids are outside throwing footballs again. Natasha took one look at Piper and went back outside. I'm guessing that means she's a demigod. Once I'd finished making dinner, I went to go see what Natasha had learned. 

"So demigod?"

"Yeah, apparently one of the most famous ones. Do you remember what Chiron sent us on Gaea and that war?"

"Yeah, I can't believe I forgot about that until now."

"Yeah your an idiot what else is new. She was one of the seven demigods. She's a daughter of Aphrodite, but could take down me according to Chiron. According to one of her friends, Annabeth Chase, she could take down both of us simultaneously. She is also the most powerful charm speaker alive currently. Possibly ever. She put Gaea to sleep with one word. I want to fight her. She could teach all of us so much."

"All of us?"

"The Avengers. After Ultron we really need to step up our game. These threats just keep getting bigger."

"Fair point, but don't bug her yet. She's still adjusting, maybe you can ask her in a few months."

"Or you could just ask me how I'm doing, your two of the best spies in the world. You'd be able to tell if I was lying. Why do you want a 17 year olds help training the avengers? Yeah I'm a demigod, that proves my spy point just FYI, but still why not try to get Percy or something?"

"Because Percy relies a lot on his water powers." I get a snort from both girls meaning I was either right or really far off, let's go with right. "You use your charm speak, but you can do more. You can use a sword, knife, bow and arrow, etcetera. I mean the avengers are still more powerful that you guys, but we can definitely learn from you." The sadness in her eyes lessened, looks like she's taking the challenge.
