She Was A Prisoner Without Chains
-------- -------- ❄️ -------- --------
Cold, freezing cold, just how Aurora liked it. She always preferred things to be cold, perhaps that was because she had never experienced heat. The girl was so used to the bitter, freezing snow that it made her somewhat comfortable. Somewhat.
She wasn't sure how long she had been trapped, treated less than a prisoner. She had received no food in the days her aunt left her in the cell.
What did she do to be trapped?
She spoke to a prisoner. Imagine if she had helped him escape, then she would be killed. The thought crossed her mind that perhaps she should've helped him escape, at least then there'd be a reason for her harsh treatment.
She was growing weak from the lack of food, tired from the lack of sleep. She needed to escape, but how?
The girl put her hand on the ice, only to feel it melt. While she should've questioned how she was able to do it, at that moment, she didn't care. A smirk appeared on the girl's face as she punched the ice, breaking it and the cell door. 'Silly Jadis.' She thought.
Aurora managed to sneak out, while the guard was sleeping. He would be killed, that wasn't her fault. He should've taken his job more seriously and not fell asleep.
The palace was almost empty, it seemed abandoned, which had become increasingly more common. Aurora left quickly, not wanting to draw attention to herself. She felt weak, her body close to giving up. She couldn't, not until she was away from the palace that was her prison, home.
Aurora smiled as she realised the snow had melted. It was summer time, or spring. All she knew for sure, winter was over.
The girl felt her eyes become heavy as she continued her journey. A breeze rushed passed her, almost as if it was guiding her, moving her without her consent. She took one more step, only to lose consciousness, just after the breeze brought her out of the forest.
Two nymphs appeared next to the girl, gasping as they took in her features. "We must contact Aslan."
Aslan stood in the camp with the siblings. Edmund had not long been rescued, meaning the Witch would soon arrive. He believed it would be a few days, she'd want to prepare her followers for the war that would soon occur.
A nymph stood in front of Aslan, causing the lion to nod his head. "What is this news you bring?" "The girl is unconscious. She is in desperate need of help." "Bring her to me," The lion said.
Only a few seconds later, the wind carried Aurora to Aslan.
Edmund's eyes widened as he stared at the unconscious, pale girl. Yes, she was always pale, but never as much as she currently was. She looked sick, weak.
The boy crouched down in front of her, allowing his hand to caress her cheek as the others watched confused. "Who is she, Edmund?" Susan questioned. "How do you know her?"
Aslan saw the boy was not paying attention, instead checking the girl for injuries. The Lion decided he would take it upon himself to answer the question. "She is Aurora Snowbell. She is the witch's niece." Lucy gasped, as her hands flew to her mouth in shock. "Why aren't we killing her?" Susan questioned.
"No!" Edmund yelled as he stood in front of the girl, protecting her. He was not going to let anyone hurt the girl he cared for, one of his two friends during his time in the castle.
