It was common for people to forget things they hadn't seen for a long period of time. Strangely, Aurora wasn't one, she seemed to remember the way to the Mirror Of Truth.
She was walking in the direction towards the Mirror, when she felt a slight, small presence following her. She turned around, only to see a small mouse on the ground, limping after her.
"Why are you following me?" she questioned the creature. She knew never to underestimate her opponent based on their size. The smallest creatures can be as deadly as a dragon, or a troll.
The mouse continued to stare, before letting out a cough. "Forgive me. I am Jasper," the mouse started, staring at the girl. "And you are her, aren't you? You're Queen Aurora."
Aurora's eyes narrowed as she stared at the mouse. She had so many questions she wanted, needed the answer to, perhaps the mouse could help. "I am she," she said. "What happened to Narnia in my absence? How long has it been?"
A sigh escaped Jaspers mouth as he shook his head. "It has been many hundred of years since your departure, over one thousand years."
Aurora's eyes widened slightly as she realised just how long she had been gone. The poor Narnians, they must have suffered greatly with her absence, just a she did without her friends.
"And what has happened to my Narnia?" She asked. "Unfortunately the news is terrible. The Telmarines attacked. They killed many Narnians, those who survived went into hiding, only recently returning because of the Horn Of Old."
"Telmarines?" Aurora questioned, her voice quiet. The Telmarines were their allies before she left. They were often flirting with her, Susan and Lucy, more so Susan, the girl being the most beautiful woman in all of Narnia. Everyone knew Aurora wasn't interested in anyone, believing she was taken by one of the Kings.
Why did the Telmarines attack?
She couldn't help but believe it was because they were deemed weak. The kingdom was without a ruler, they were defenceless. A kingdom without a ruler was barely a kingdom.
"I'm afraid so," Jasper said. "We attacked their castle last night, though many lost their lives, or are being held prisoner, some injured, like myself."
Aurora looked down at the mouse, her lips turning into a frown as she noticed the blood dripping from his back, onto his tail. The creature had suffered during an attack, one that was avoidable.
Why would they attack the castle? It was one of the most stupid things they could do. They needed to gather information, weigh the pros and cons before even considering to attack.
The Queen let out a sigh, before crouching down next to the mouse. She closed her eyes, before moving her hand over the injury. The cold ran through her, making her almost smile, almost.
