Chapter 30: Reunion

No one's POV

"Makiroll?" The person spoke up with their deep yet familiar voice, the feeling that took you back after so long. "K-Kaito?" tears flowed down Maki's cheeks as she quickly ran to to the astronaut and jumped on him on a loving embrace. "Kaito! Y-you're a-alive!" Maki couldn't take it anymore, more tears started flowing out of her face while Kaito hugged her back calming her down "Hehe, I've been here ever since my death in the killing game," he whispered to her receiving nothing but happy sobs. "I've missed you, y-you have n-no idea how much!" Maki replied making Kaito chuckle "It's alright,  I'm here now," Kaito smiled and let go of her. "Sidekick! Himiko! Come here!" Kaito smiled at them and spread his arms while they rushed to him in a hug "Kaito!" They both said while Shuichi cried a bit. The others awed at the wholesome reunion as Kaito noticed Tsumugi smiling from the corner "Come on Tsumugi! Come here!" Kaito said making Tsumugi back away a bit. "Are you sure, 'cause I- I'm not-" she struggled to let out the words she wanted to say but Kaito waved it off. "Come on, you're our classmate too," Kaito said and offered her a hand "Okay," Tsumugi smiled and took Kaito's hand dragging her into the embrace.

Tsumi was smiling for her daughter because she was happy, Shigeo was silent the whole thing, some of the guards looked at them in awe while some were at loss and in despair but just gave up from boredom. Tatiana held her children closed to her and smiled "See Shigeo, Tsumugi doesn't need a killing game to be happy, just simple things like friends and family, if you know how it works," Tatiana spoke up gaining Shigeo's attention, he heard her words and began processing it.

He realized that he hasn't been attending to his family lately, he was always busy doing his job as the chairman that he won't even cuddle with the two of them anymore, when they're watching their favorite late night show, watching videos in the internet, and mamy more. "Yeah," Shigeo whispered in the most inaudible sound, but enough for Tatiana to hear, Tsumi just mentioned that he had no right talking to her nor Tsumugi so he won't.

"And who are these people with you?" Kaito let go of Tsumugi, Shuichi, and Himiko and looked at Katsumi and the others making Himiko excited. "Kaito! These are Katsumi, Kyoshi, Mizuno, and Mrs. Tatiana!" Himiko introduced them one by one with a proud smile while they waved at Kaito. "Hi," Kyoshi said awkwardly moving behind Mizuno. "Hi?" Kaito waved back at him as he watched him go behind the brown-haired girl.

"They're Kokichi's family," Maki added making Kaito shocked as he looked at Katsumi and Tatiana once more. "I see, no wonder, now I know where he got his face from, a lovely face for that matter," Kaito looked at Tatiana with a smile making her chuckle "Uhuhuhu, what a nice boy you are," Tatiana said placing a hand on her mouth as she let out giggles.

Kaito looked at them with a soft gaze and sighed "Kokichi's been waiting for you all, he's been talking about you nonstop, he always hoped that one day you'll come pick him up, he even said he wanted to play with his brother again," Kaito said making Kyoshi yelp as he step out from behind Mizuno. "He did?! Don't worry Koki, we'll play chess once we get you outta here! Now where is he?!" Kyoshi couldn't contain himself, the urge to see Kokichi again was too hard to handle. "Hey! We're here!" A man's voice called from the door gaining everyone's attention. The ones who just arrived were Mr. Saihara and Mr. Tojo as a few guards followed them, Shigeo then commanded them to go back to their places in which they followed. "Oh uh Kaito, this is my uncle, and this is Mr. Tojo, Kirumi's uncle," Saihara introduced them while thr smiled at Kaito "Kai Tojo," Mr. Tojo waved at him "Yuketsu Saihara," Mr. Saihara did the same as they laughed.

"Okay, now we're complete would you kindky show us the way Momota-kun?" Katsumi spoke up earning a nod from Kaito "Please call me Kaito, and yes! Right this way people!" Kaito gestured them to come with him as they all followed him. Shigeo just stood there frozen not believing what he just did, he knew he was throwing away his opportunity to create another killing game so why wasn't he doing anything next to keep it?
